So, what do u need to play BloodBowl

Post by BaSe »

I currently play 40k but I am starting with a club soon that also plays this superb game and then ill get a chance to see if I like it. If I did, what would I need. I don't particuarly want to buy the boxed set as I don't want to play as either orks or humans and the dam instructions are free.. sooo

what do I need to play the game, and where can I get the relevent bits needed? Ive looked on the GW online shop and all it has is the boxed set and teams.

Also, do the teams have codex's like WH40k.. how do you find out about each model etc.. or is it all in the rules?

Yes, all teams are listed in the Living Rule Book (LRB).

You need to buy the boxed set. It contains the board, blocking dice (which I believe you can buy separately if you wish), a passing ruler, two scatter templates, two dugout boards and a bunch of tokens and stuff..

I'd recommend finding someone who has the boxed set and try to play a couple of games. Then, if you like the game, you really should buy the box.. If nothing else, as to prove to GW/Fanatic that the game is something we want them to continue developing..

Quick reponse time... tick tock

Geez, that was a quick reply...
I suppose it would be good for GW to buy the boxed set, but it just seems such a waste when I:

a) only want one team
b) don't want either orks or humans

I'll have to check out what my local GW store can do for me. But first, as you said, I will playtest it and see if I like it.

Thanx

The things you do want from the box:

1. The board. Plus dugouts
2. Rule Book. Nice to have a printed version.
3. Passing ruler.
4. Block dice.

Turn counters, re-roll counters, random player counters, scatter template, throw-in template....
OK, most of it can be improvised, but hey....

If u play 40k or any other GW game u can set up basically any team just by clipping the weapons off. What do u want to play?

You could always improvise a bit...humans for example could just as easily be used with Norse, Amazon rules..experiment and then treat yourself to some metals of your choice.
Gotta be said that Orcs and Humans are great for learning the fundamentals of the game though. Good all-round teams that can do pretty much anything. Have fun! 8)

Oi! Gerrof ma dice!!!

Post by Ghost of Pariah »

Don't know about other leagues but in my league the coaches are very superstitious about their dice, especially the blocking dice. We don't like rookies who don't have them to use ours and "curse" them. And if you are a vet coach who forgets to bring his dice to the match...boy oh boy the ribbing never stops! Many times, some of the nicer coaches will keep 2 and loan 1 to the other coach for the match. And oh yeah, don't worry about the human and orc minis. Seems like somebody is always looking for some.
Anyway, just buy the box set and get in there!!!!!!!

Or into Galak's case the highway to be run over by the first passing semi ... my old tabletop league was right on a major highway.
Never did this to my blocking dice as they were too difficult to replace but I've shown many a 6 sider the penalties of continous failure.

Galak

Oh and since I'm chiming in late ... yeah, buy the sodding box, its a good investment.
