? Star Players are only allowed to freeboot - so you can't have them as a permanent member of the team.

Orcs are a good solid team to start off with.

A powerhouse Orc Team huh...I'll give it a try.

4 Blitzers (320k)
2 Black Orcs (160k)
2 Thrower (140k)
3 Linemen (150k)
3 Rerolls (180k)
5 Fan Factor (50k)

Total cost 1000k

Gives you a pretty bashy team without having to suffer too much in the FF and RR areas. I would recommend that you go with an apothecary as your first team purchase and then perhaps pick up a Troll or another black orc as soon as you can.

Lineup is ok. I would change one of the throwers to a linemen and start with a higher FF. You need it to fill the positions and buy an apo (I'd say that should be the first purchase. Then you may get the second thrower, the two additional BOBs and maybe fill up the team with gobbos. Of course a fourth re-roll would be nice as well ... and if you really don't know what to do with your money, get the troll ... 8)

If he wants to go more bashy I'd swap the blitzer and Black Orcs around. Lots more 2db for him with 4 Black orcs.

hello

from experiance and what ive read here that you are better off finding a nice balance in your team rather than going for an all out hitting team. when i started off with Dwarfs i found it hard to throw and run as they mainly just smash away, but if you've got time to develop a team go for it, as now my dwarf team have peolple specifically for these jobs and make playing so much fun. and i recently purchased a Chaos Dwarf team who are ideal for smashing as you have the chaos dwarf blockers, passing and running with the hobgoblins and whatever you want with the bull centaurs as they are so versatile. and if it takes your fancy you can throw in a big guy either a minotaur or troll. hope this helps you,

To Khaine's point.

There's been a lot of discussion on the pros and cons of S4 vs S3 + block. I think that Blitzers will help you win some games in the beginning, the BOBs will lead to more turnovers or force you to burn rerolls. The BOBs get more powerful once you equip them with Block, but they are still relatively slow. 4 Blitzers give you the options that you need, both for blocking and receiving (my Orks pass quite a bit ... )

From my experience, 4 Blitzers, 2 BOBs (rest purchased after a couple of games) is the more balanced and safer approach.

But whatever floats your boat ...

True, but in the long-term it might be nicer to have the BOBs first as they have more games to gain skills.

Blitzers will gain SPPs quickly by comparison.

Yeah, I know. That is the other stand-point. It's a matter of taste really, but I think it does not matter too much when you add BOB nr.3 after two or three games and number four after two more.

Of course it'll depend on how many games you anticipate with that team as well.

In the long run it certainly does not make a difference, in a short league it may.

Trying 3 Blitzers and 3 BOBs?
If I don't field a Troll, I usually start this way (and -1 thrower, +1 lineorc and +2 ff)

I'd go for Chaos. Max out on your Warriors, take a high FF and 3 re-rolls and build up your Beastmen. A slow starting team, but once your warriors get going and the Physical abilities start coming in they are pretty awesome. Lots of good conversion potential as well. Damn it I should take my own advice!!

If its a new(ish) league the Lizards really fit this bill. Personlly I think less experienced coach find the overpowered when they are not becuase they can hit so much and get their ball carriers are so hard to keep down and overall very fast.

Then they learn about Tackle.....

And if you do take Lizards don't forget to give your Saurus guys Break Tackle.

I would instead definitely go for Orcs, if their coach is pretty new to the game.

Chaos teams may be frustrating because they are skill-less at start, and the coach may get in trouble if he starts losing players to nigglings and -Stats or at worst, deaths.

Lizardmen teams are a bit better, but still require some subtleness from their coach to work at their best.

Orcs are simple a fairly balanced team of fellas, really oriented to kill and maim. No coach would ask for more to learn the Way of the CASMaker.
