Starting BB without buying the GW set

Hello everyone, my apologies if this is going over old territory, however i am looking to get into blood bowl but prefer the black scorpion orcs and humans and the pitches at impact. I have downloaded the competition rulebook from GW but want to know what other items i will need (counters/ dice etc) to start playing. If this is an old question sorry, perhaps you could direct me to the relevant info. Thanks very much.

You need to get some block dice (that you can buy from impact) also some 6 sided dice & an 8 sided dice. Then you need a range ruler which you can also buy from impact or alternativley http://www.tybbl.org.uk/resources/ has one you can download. Then you can get a scatter template & throw in template if you want (don't know where from) but there not really needed. Oh & most importantly you need some balls... Get that from impact too if you don't have your own balls ;)

Thanks very much for the advice, i have started playing the xbox version but there is nothing to beat figures on the board. the really anoying thing is that i bought the 1st edition and death zone back when they first came out (still remember being really excited by the very first advert in white dwarf). The ironspike all stars were a brief and consistently unsuccessful franchise but i stupidly got rid of my sets years ago. Never mind it gives me a good excuse to start all over again. Cheers again

Just to sum it up in one place you need:
A pitch
Some dugouts (reserves,KO,Injured/dead boxes) with places for rerolls also a place to keep score
Throwing template
Scatter template (easily printable from various sources)
Throw in template (also easily printable 1-2 left, 3-4 straight, 5-6 right)
Block Dice (NAF with membership or you can buy some substitutes from impact as well, if you want them sooner than later, or you can use regular dice and a conversion chart)
2 regular d6
1 d8
2 teams
and someone to play against.

2 regular d6
Impact also sells a set of 3 d6 that have the blocking symbols as well as the regular numbers which is great because you don't have to switch the dice anymore.

That's just when you first see them. My entire league switched to these dice and everyone is happy with it. You really get used to the different look after a couple of turns.

Depending on how you want to port your game:

"Boards"

My favorite: The Boulder Brawl felt mat from Impact Miniatures

They also now sale pvc plastic roll up mats in differing schemes:

The second hardest working man in BB, Daloonieshaman, resides on this board and has:
The West Coast Quake Board
Click on the link... it's a beautiful work of traditional art... and imminently playable....
