catching a kickoff
my friend says that by definition you can't catch something unless it was thrown and kick offs are not thrown. so instead you have to pick it up and sure hands will work on it, is he right? in this situation the kickoff was landing on a player.
if a kick off lands on a guy can I attempt to "catch" it before my turn begins?

Your friend is wrong, plain and simple.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

As above, plus "guess what is one use of the KickOff Return skill".

I'd remind you all this is the Newbies section of the forum. As such questions - no matter how silly or obvious the answer - should be answered simply and accurately and without denigrating the OP.
