Hi everyone

Post by velvet mark »

Hi i'm Mark from Manchester.

Thought id say hello to you fine people.

I've recently re bought the board game with the goal of getting my kids into it in the future... Having lots of fun putting the teams together. I've got a night goblin scratch built team on the go at the moment, with a full 2nd edition Elf team(pro/high) and a 2nd ed dark elf team to be painted next.

I've mainly played the 3rd edition board game with friends and family years ago and am currently playing the Cyanide PC Legendary Version against the computer.

I love both the hobby aspect and the tactical challenge of blood bowl and thought id sign up as a lot of google searches on bloodbowl modelling/tactics brought me to TFF.

Cheers

Hi Mark,

if you search for Manchester Blood Bowl you're pretty likely to end up at the Waterbowl forum as well - http://waterbowl.freeforums.org/

You'll find zillions of players there, some of whom are not too shabby

Thanks Mr Brown - hopefully they'll be finished soon. Didn't get the chance to paint this weekend unfortunately, sorting a bit of DIY out and playing Lego Batman2 with the eldest lad!

Cheers Leipziger. That sounds ace! I've never played with them but love the character they have. I need to get some practice in on BBLE. One thing im not sure of, now that the special weapons are part of the Goblin roster, can you have one looney/fanatic plus Nobbla Blackwart/Fungus the Loon as a star player inducement, i.e. 2 chainsaw/ball and chain goblins for one match?

Ill say a quick hi on the Waterbowl forums too, thanks

Welcome!
About your question: yes, you can hire up to 2 Star Players as inducement, so you are allowed to have one looney and/or one fanatic plus Nobbla Blackwart and/or Fungus the Loon on your team.
However, mind that Star Players may not take the number of players in the team to more than 16 (MNG players don't count towards the number of players on the team), so if your roster is full, you can't induce any Star Player.

Thanks Matt for clearing that up.

I guess its best not to over do it with special weaps as you will not have any players left after the first few drives.

Hopefully ill get a bit of time to paint the team tonight during the England/Italy friendly.

Cheers

You're welcome! Glad to help you!
In my opinion secret weapons are great for Goblins, from both flavour and effectiveness perspectives.
Generally speaking, if I receive I field the fanatic and possibly the looney, if I kick off I field the bombardier and the looney.
This can vary according to my opponent's team, if you play against elves or Skaven fielding all the secret weapons is not a good idea, because they can score fast.
Don't forget that Goblins can buy bribes at the cheaper price of 50,000 gps.

Thanks again Matt!

The tip about the Elves/Skaven is a good one - Ill bear it in mind. To be honest I struggle against Skaven and High Elves more than any team, even using my favourite Dark Elf Roster.

Realised after a few defeats you have to mark and take out their GR/ catchers whilst harassing their ball carrier, easier said than done though!

The goblins are 90% done, I just need to finish off their faces and bases. Hopefully have pics soon.

In the meantime Ive been painting some Kev White Hasslefree sculpts:

This one isn't bloodbowl (but it could be with a bit of snipping and greenstuff)

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

Cheers Heff:)

Finally finished the goblins, not numbered them yet though.

Ive been a bit side tracked in the past month with some 1/1200 scale naval ships and 1/72 scale aircraft so these took a bit longer than originally planned... oh well!!
