Question on Mummy skill up

Post by Warduke »

So my first level up I rolled double 5's. I can get +MA, +AV or any of the skill access since doubles. I've read that normally on doubles you want to grab block but I'm wondering about +MA instead since that stat increase is available. Thoughts?

Thanks for any suggestions.

The main tasks of a Mummy are blocking and supporting nearby team mates with Guard, it's not scoring or moving fast, thus Block is excellent, it greatly increases blocking reliability and causing casualties, in addition Block defends the Mummy as well when blocked.
Take Block and you won't regret it.

If the double 5 had come later (AND after you had block) then I might would take the +MA, but initially... definitely... block.... You'll be knocking down more opponents... staying on your feet more... and with MiB, scoring more spp....

Agreed with the previous professors of the pitch.... :)

I agree, as MA4 is nice on a mummy since they can get stranded, especially should they be knocked over.

Had it been a 6+4 roll 1st skill then I’d have recommended the MA. But block is a certainly the best choice on him as it makes him far more reliable, harder to take down and get him to 16 spp quicker.

Definitely block. And if you've already got block and you roll double 5 then you take dodge. A blodging Mummy is a nightmare to try and take down. And it also stacks with Break tackle which you can take on a normal skill.

I would never take +MA as that would be wasteful bloat on a mummy.

At some point I had another ST 6 Mummy on the same team :D :

If one ST 6 Blodger Mummy is hard to deal with, figure two ST 6 Mummies and enough reserves to make clawpomber teams cry. :D
Sadly, one of them died so I have only the ST 6 Blodger Mummy now.

I have him beaten for cagebreaking goodness...though it isn't a mummy!

My Mummy is not Loner, though. :D
You can either fail the Wild Animal roll or the dodge if your opponent has Tackle, and Loner makes rerolling hard, so my Mummy is better than your Minotaur for cagebreaking goodness of a classic X cage.
Your Minotaur's odds of making a successful cagebreak (assuming -3 tackle zone modifiers and no Tackle skill) are:
Wild Animal Blitz 2+ with Loner, Dodge 2+ with Dodge = 81.019 %
With a team reroll = 87.77 %
My Mummy's odds of making a successful cagebreak (assuming -3 tackle zone modifiers and no Tackle skill):
Dodge 3+ with Dodge skill
With or without team reroll = 88.889 %

Your Minotaur is better than my Mummy when there are 4+ tackle zones on the destination square, though.
His odds of making a successful cagebreak (assuming -4 tackle zone modifiers and no Tackle skill) are:
Wild Animal Blitz 2+ with Loner, Dodge 2+ with Dodge Without team reroll = 81.019 %
With a team reroll = 87.77 %
My Mummy's odds for the 4+ dodge with Dodge are 75% with or without reroll.
