Hi from Stroud

Post by outcast »

Hi all, just thought I'd say a quick "hello". I'm very, very new to BB - just got my copy of the game but not yet played it... too busy trying to understand the rules so that my efforts at teaching my wife don't put her off it completely!

I've already learned a huge amount from browsing this amazing resource and have picked up a lot of tips on painting.

I've downloaded the CRP and also found a link to LRB6 (with all the artwork, background etc.). I must admit, that as a new player, I'm finding the LRB a much more engaging document but there seems to be a difference surrounding the Bank/Petty Cash rule. I think I'm a long way off any sort of league play but I was curious as to which rule tends to be adopted by players here?

Also, on pg 28 of my LRB there are three steps listed in the Pre-Match Sequence but only 2 of them are detailed... the Transfer Gold from Treasury to Petty Cash section doesn't seem to be there. Is my copy of LRB6 incomplete or is that just how it is?

Apologies if this Q should be asked in another section.

Thanks for the incredible resource!

Hi there, welcome to the forums! :D

I use the Icepelt LRB6 and it definately has 3 steps:-

1. The Weather
Both coaches roll a D6 and add the results together and consult
the Weather table (see page 20) to see what the weather will be
like for the match.
2. Transfer Gold from Treasury to Petty Cash
Both teams at this point may transfer gold pieces from their team
treasury into petty cash. Petty cash may be used during the
current match to purchase inducements and adds directly to the
team value of the team for this match. The team with the highest
team value must declare how much gold he is transferring into
petty cash first.
3. Inducements
Teams that are at a disadvantage are often given ‘inducements’
to play that will help even the odds. Usually this takes the form of
extra gold, offered by the stadium owner to help convince a team
to take part in a match against a superior opponent (and thus
allowing the stadium owner to recoup his losses and more
through tickets sales and merchandise!).

There some links to it on the 3rd page of this thread, viewtopic.php?f=20&t=37021&hilit=icepelt+rules&start=30
Edit - (The Mediafire one - you'll need winRAR or equivalent to open)

Cheers

Mark

For team choice, the best advise I could give is to just pick the models you like best :)

All teams work (more or less) as good as the others, so you won´t have to worry much about whether or not a team will be competitive.

Bloodbowl is a great game. I still enjoy playing (friendly) games after playing my first game 15 years ago.

Well I like the look of the Amazons so thought I might try to pick them up next. I also quite fancy the Skaven but they're harder to play aren't they?

I've started painting my first Orc and judging by the pics in the painting section I've got a lot to learn!! :-?

Welcome to the hobby and the site!

There are lots of great painting tutorials and resources out there.

It is important to remember that most of the time the minis will be 3 feet or more away from you. Basic paint jobs look great at this distance (much better than bare or basecoated minis)!

I also think that a finished base make any paint job look 10 times better.

Best of luck, and give a shout with any questions. This is a pretty good place to help get any questions answered.
