I can't wait, Blood Bowl in Canberra my own home town.

I got to the pdf by copying and pasteing the link address into Internet Explorer.

What are the rules for a Swiss Style Tournament?

Swiss style basically means that after the first round of matches you rank the players on a ladder and 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4, 5 plays 6 etc.

The idea is that nobody gets an easy run through the tournament. The advantage is that this system is extremely good at picking the best player in the tournament accurately with very few games.

The only glitch is that it works better with games like chess and less well with Bloodbowl which has a larger luck element and where things like a pitch invasion can really ruin your whole day.

Right Norse?

Be there or be fouled repeatedly! (hmm, I'll foul anyway!)

Post by Babs »

Drakeular, Be there or be uncommitted. You will be able to get your beautiful dice then too - and sigining up for the event includes your NAF membership.

Swiss syle means winners play other winners, and losers play other losers so it's harder to keep winning and harder to keep losing!

Last year noone had no wins and noone had no losses (18 participants).

In the round before the finals (the last round was the 'finals') six people could have won the tournament!

Woody, when's the Melbourne GP?

Marcus, short of paying your airfare, how can I convince you to join us?

MOAB - October 4-7, Sydney, Australia

Post by Babs »

If anyone in Australia is keen to have a tournament under their belt before CanCon you can attend MOAB.

Although not an official NAF event, MOAB will be a good training event before CanCon - where the matches will affect your world coach rating!

Unfortunately I am back in the land of povvo and cannot afford the flight back home

It's possible that I may be able to roll my company flights credits (I work for a flights booking company) over the new year so I can book the outbound for Xmas and the inbound for January. I've been keen on spending a Xmas back home and wouldn't mind heading off to Woodford over new year as well. CanCon might well be the final straw.

I'll let you know

Babs, the GP schedule isn't released until the winter. Melbourne traditionally kicks off the calender though, so sometime in March I think.

The Melbourne GP should be late March. There is a decent chance that I may be in Aus to watch the GP so if this tournament was held within a week or 2 of the GP I would love to attend.
CanCon is in Canbera right? How far is that from Melbourne?
Anyway, this is probably just a pipe dream for me to attend both the GP and a BB tournament in one trip but I can dream.

No go this time. I've heard a rumour that the BB is scheduled for the first weekend in March, and the Melbourne GP is the following W/e, subject to confirmation in Oct.
