Re: HQ SUMMER JAM 2010 – JULY 21 (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium)
HQ SUMMER JAM 2010 - FAQ
Team Value 130? Why?
--> We want each and every team to be able to field enough players, an apothecary and enough re-rolls to play a good game of Blood Bowl.
But some teams can't spend all that cash?
--> True. Amazons and Dwarves in particular will have a hard time using all that extra cash. But those teams shine in every tournament format. This time, some other teams get a place in the sun.
What about Goblins and Halfling?
--> They can't spend that much cash either. But they get a splattering of 'double' skills and extra random skills to be (at least slightly) 'competitive'.
Can you give an example of how the skill system works?
--> Yes, we will post regular previews where we take a look at one specific team. How would we build that team? What skills would we give? You are very welcome to ask for a specific team to be previewed.

Re: HQ SUMMER JAM 2010 – JULY 21 (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium)
WEEK 2 PREVIEW - NURGLE
Introduction: Some teams can't have it all... not even when they get 1.300.000 to spend. Nurgle has to make one decision...
Full line-up:
Beast Of Nurgle - 140K
4x Nurgle Warrior - 440K
4x Pestigor - 320K
4x Rotter - 160K
4x Re-roll - 280K
TOTAL: 1.340K --> 40K too much
You have three options:
A) Only 12 players (cutting a Rotter)
B) Only 3 Pestigors (fielding a 5th Rotter instead)
C) Only 3 re-rolls (netting you 3 fans or 1 fan + 1 coach + 1 cheerleader)
My reason not to choose option A --> in this tournament, you will face a killer player on almost every team, players with Claw + Mighty Blow + Frenzy and the likes... players will get hurt... Nurgle doesn't want to field less then 11 players.
My reason not to choose option C --> even though Nurgle is a 'passive & reactive' team, it wants to throw its fair share of blocks. But you'll only have a maximum of 4 players with Block (only if all your random skills are Block) so you may want to have enough re-rolls around.
Ending with this line-up:
1. Beast Of Nurgle - Claw
2. Nurgle Warrior - Block
3. Nurgle Warrior - Guard
4. Nurgle Warrior
5. Nurgle Warrior
6. Pestigor - Dodge & Sure Hands
7. Pestigor - Wrestle
8. Pestigor - Frenzy
9. Rotter
10. Rotter
11. Rotter
12. Rotter
13. Rotter
4x re-roll
Other skill suggestions (when the 3 random skills come around):
Stand Firm or Piling On (tough call) on the Beast Of Nurgle.
Guard or Mighty Blow on the Nurgle Warrior with Block.
Tackle on the Pestigor with Wrestle.
Block on every other player.
So much for this weeks preview. A big thank you for all the positive feedback so far. Hope to see you (and your team) on Wednesday July 21st.

WEEK 3 PREVIEW - LIZARDMEN
Introduction: "Why are Lizardmen tier 1 in this format?" Here's why...
Line-up:
1. Kroxigor - Stand Firm
2. Saurus - Block
3. Saurus - Break Tackle & Dodge
4. Saurus - Guard
5. Saurus - Frenzy
6. Saurus - Wrestle
7. Saurus
8. Skink
9. Skink
10. Skink
11. Skink
12. Skink
13. Skink
Apothecary
4x re-roll
1 Fan
1 Coach
1 Cheerleader
A lot of other (combinations of) skills would be good choices:
Kroxigor - Block
Saurus - Tackle (& Mighty Blow)
Saurus - Mighty Blow (& Piling On)
Skink - Sidestep
Skink - Sure Hands
You get 1 random skill. On a Skink I would pick Sidestep, Guard on the Kroxigor, Block on Sauri without Block or Wrestle, probably Tackle, Mighty Blow, Break Tackle or Frenzy on the Block or the Wrestle Saurus. Depends on how you like your Sauri
A lot of people have already told me they will probably be there. Please be so kind to let me know by posting here. Thank you

Re: HQ SUMMER JAM 2010 – JULY 21 (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium)
WEEK 4 PREVIEW - PRO ELVES
Introduction: I like Pro Elves at 110, they bring cheap AG4 linemen, allowing you to field 12 players in an environment where most other teams have to settle for 11. With an extra 200K you can invest in more Catchers, an apothecary and extra re-rolls.
Line-up:
1. Blitzer - Dodge & Guard
2. Blitzer - Frenzy
3. Catcher - Block
4. Catcher - Wrestle
5. Catcher - Sidestep
6. Catcher
7. Thrower - Sure Hands
8. Lineman
9. Lineman
10. Lineman
11. Lineman
12. Lineman
13. Lineman
4x re-roll
Apothecary
I like Guard on a mobile player, making this an obvious stack for me. On offence I'd pick up the ball with the Thrower and give it to the Catcher with Sidestep, who then proceeds to hug the sideline, where your Blitzers can hand out the beatings.
There are some alternatives, but not a lot: Kick (on a Lineman) and Tackle (on a Blitzer) jump to mind. Maybe I am missing something here?
The one random skill would always be Dodge for me. If you're unlucky to land the random skill on the Blodging Blitzer, I'd probably give Sure Hands.
So much for this week's preview. I'd like to point out that I've written a preview of the Slann team in this months edition of Injury Time. Make sure to have a look

Re: HQ SUMMER JAM 2010 – JULY 21 (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium)
Let us/me knwo how it worked. Maybe there should be a 1 day tourney in Arnhem. Also curious how difficult it was (or not ?) to organize it... Etc. etc.
I'll ponder a bit more and perhaps PM you about it. Is that allright ?

You are coming to the tournament in september so you can come tommorow and stay till september then. That is cheaper.
