Post by dwbailey »

2011 Aftershock Tournament

When: June 25th, 2011
Registration starts at 10am. 1st Round begins Promptly at 11am
Where: 1821 Meadowbrook rd
Altadena, CA 91001

The Big One hit, but the rubble won’t stop the Blood Bowl. There is a tourney in Pasadena, CA. The stadium may be falling down but the teams are here and the fans have come out to see some carnage on the field.

This is a 4 game, one day NAF santioned tournament in the Pasadena, CA area. We will be BBQ'ing and have sodas available. There will be coolers available if you want to BYOB. If you have any questions contact the tournament organizers at daviswbailey@aol.com or daloonieshaman@yahoo.com.

What To Bring:

Your painted Blood Bowl team- minimum tournament standard of at least 3 colors. (Bare Metal is NOT a color!!)

2 copies of your team roster-- one for the officials, one for use during games. (Having copies for your opponents is very courteous) We recommend the excellent Excel roster made available by the Aros Blood Bowl League, which allows for easy separation of positional base skills vs. skill pack selections. (Note: Unfortunately, the ABBL roster does not yet support the additional Slann/Chaos Pact/Underworld rosters; you would need to use a different roster sheet if you're playing one of those three races.)

Your Blood Bowl Blocking Dice, templates, assorted bits, board, dugouts, etc. -- You're probably going to need your templates, range rulers, GW/NAF^^ Blocking Dice, and other bits. You shouldn't need your board or dugouts, (but having extras around just in case never hurt).^^ You may not use Impact or other dice as blocking dice.

Copy of the LRB 6.0***-- freely available for download (BB Complete Blood Bowl Rulebook) from http://www.games-workshop.com via "Specialist Games" --> "Blood Bowl" --> "Blood Bowl Resources" ***if approved by BBRC

Tournament Rules:

Any official team in the LRB 6.0 is welcome -- including Slann, Underworld and Chaos Pact.

The Kickoff and Weather tables in the LRB 6.0 will be used.

Initial weather for each round will be rolled by the top table at the beginning of the round. The weather result will apply to that the start of everyone's games. (Weather is then free to change in each game as normal during the course of game events.)

4 games over the course of the day, which will include 3 rounds of Swiss pairing, followed by the final round as a full positional/championship round.

Tournament will be a resurrection style tournament. So any injuries your team suffers will not carry over to the next game, and any SPPs they earn will also be erased. The roster you start the tournament with will be the same for each round you play.

Team Build:

Build your team using 1.25 million. This can be used to buy players, inducements, star players, skills, and stat increases. Yes this means you can give an Ag or St boost!!

Teams must have at least 11 players and NO MORE than 50k can be spent to improve any one player.

Allowed Inducements:

Bloodwieser Babes
Stars
Bribes
Mercenaries
Extra Team Training (We will laugh at you if you choose this one though ;) )
Igors
Master Chef
Wizards
Wandering Apothecaries

Special Rules:

As the stadium suffered severe damage in the riot following the Big One, the stands have some temporary bracing holding them up. Due to the reinforced walls surrounding the field no ball or player will make it into the stands. Any ball that would go into the stands bounces back in 1 square in a random direction determined by the throw in template. Any player blocked into the wall will bounce back in the same manner, be placed prone, and suffer an armour roll with a +1 modifier. If the square the player rebounds to is occupied, than that player is pushed as if blocked, but not knocked down.

Due to the influx of Red Cross medics in the area following the Quake, the quality of local apothecaries has risen significantly. Any apothecary roll in the tournament automatically succeeds. Also an apothecary can be used to automatically have one player in the knocked out box returned to reserves. The apothecary can only be used for this between drives and must be used before any rolls are made to have players recover on their own.

Scoring:

Win = 60 pts
Tie = 35 pts
Loss = 10 pts
Bonuses:

Kept it close (lost by 1) = +2pts
Caused 1 more CAS than the opponent = +2pts*
Caused 2 more CAS than the opponent = +5pts*
Won by 2 or more TDs = +2pts
Won by 3 or more TDs = +5pts
* For the sake of bonuses, only CAS sustained during a block will count, Blocking into the stands does count as the players stay on the pitch. Casualties from fouls and self inflicted casualties do not count.

Tournament Matchups:

Tournament pairing will be setup in a swiss style: the Round #1 match-ups will be determined by random draw, with Rounds #2-3 arranged such that you will be paired up against coaches who have similar scores to yourself after each round.

Note on Tie Breakers
The Scoring system has been adjusted in the hope of getting the most accurate representation possible of how everyone has performed. But no matter what is done, there will remain the possibility of ties in the standings. This will be the order ties are broken in.

Winning Percentage
Head to Head record
Net TDs plus Net CAS
Total TDs plus Total CAS
If there is somehow still a tie at that point, the tournament organizer will use his best judgement in finding a way to break the tie.

Location Courtesies:
Smoking is only allowed off campus (Walk to the street)
Try to park to allow maximum use of the street parking
If you dribble on the pot clean it up.
We have everything you might need, hobby wise, for your quick repairs
Go up the driveway and through the gate. (Do not use front door)
If you need it and have your team stored electronically you can print it out
Assist us in getting a pic of you and your team
It does not hurt to bring extra food/drinks/beer to share.

non NAF participants $20 (will get NAF blocking dice and 1 year membership)

Prizes:
We will give out some cool stuff
If you win you will get some cooler stuff (to go along with that warm fuzzy feeling)

Team Player Numbers:
Please put the player number on the back and front of the base to avoid confusion (and so us old people can see it a little better) <you can paint over it later if it is not to you liking>

Customs:
If the die is remotely cocked pick it up and re-roll it.
If you are playing slow you may be put on a timer (For the entire group's benefit)
Arguments are resolved by the Ref, then we may ask someone who actually knows.
Once you start calculating strengths for a block/blitz there are no take-backs (suck it up and take the 1 die block because you forgot to bring that extra guy in)
Other take-backs are at the discretion of your opponent <it is not poor sportsmanship if he does not allow it>
There is no illegal procedure
