Team England Captaincy Election '16
Hi all.
The process to elect an England captain for the 2016 Eurobowl will begin shortly. There will be a meeting of the Eurobowl captains at the NAFWC, and we want our new man / woman in place in plenty of time to represent us at that meeting.
The timeline for the election is as follows:
Election Schedule:
24 Aug: Window opens for candidates to come forward
31 Aug: Window closes, Q&A opens
7 Sep: Vote opens
14 Sep: Vote closes
You can find information on eligibility for the role in our selection policy document.
This is a great opportunity to engage with Team England / the Eurobowl and to grill our candidates about where they are going they are going to do with the captaincy if they win. I hope you join us at Team England for the election, and stay for the chat.
Thanks!
Phil.

Cool. Does anyone know if there's a date yet for Eurobowl Sweden in 2016?

Not yet. It's not decided where it will be held yet.pipey wrote:Cool. Does anyone know if there's a date yet for Eurobowl Sweden in 2016?
I'm sure that the information will be up on TFF as soon as a decision has been met.

Place for a discussion?
We don't know whether EB will be November, October, or perhaps some different time than usual e.g. September or even the summer.
On that basis, is it possible for anyone to commit to doing this job at this stage?
Otherwise we're asking people to say I'll put myself forward making myself available whenever it may be. Seems a tough commitment for anyone to make. And risks a captain having to pull out if the date is prohibitive.
Any way around this?

Re: Team England Captaincy Election '16
Well, it's certainly a bit late to discuss it now, the process is underway and it was advertised a while back!
In all probability, we know the general 6-8 week window the tournament will fall within. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest a potential England captain is into the job enough to organise his / her life accordingly around something he / she is passionate about, where possible. Also, we are keen to get the new captain in place by the WC for the cited reasons. If for some reason real life of any sort intervenes, we'll get a new captain. That's a risk every year!
We'll go on as advertised, and I would think the right place for further discussion is TE if necessary. Let's keep this for general information?
Cheers, and candidates have a week to come forward!

Re: Team England Captaincy Election '16
Yep maybe I should've mentioned it last week when this cropped up. Definitely something to bear in mind as it could well end up with a captaincy withdrawal which wouldn't be ideal.
Raised on TFF as the Swedes here might be able to provide more info / or at least some clues re possible dates.

This is more or less the middle of the application week, so a bump is in order.
We currently have one candidate - Joemanji. If no one else comes forward by Monday, we'll have a bloodless coup.

Can Scots vote if they regularly play tournaments in England and know both candidates?

Re: Team England Captaincy Election '16
Sorry, this is a poll for England captain, to be voted upon by the English.
I'm sure there are several humorous parallels to be drawn with Scottish / English MPs voting on things that don't affect their constituencies, but in BB it's English votes for an Englishman / woman.
