Auld World Masters II - Star Poll

For those of you who like a bit of fluff read on, for everyone else skip to below the italics!

Commissioner Wobert looked about him warily at the remains of his office. This afternoon had gone south very quickly. It was only a matter of 10 minutes ago that he had been sat behind his desk, feet up, swirling a glass of malt and patting himself on the back. The inaugural Auld World Masters tournament had been a rip roaring success and the crowds were baying for more. Who would have thought the public would pay so much to see old people beat the snot out of each other (and boy those golden oldies were full of snot - the clean up bills afterwards were eye watering). Still despite that he'd make a pretty packet and even 'Big' Gunn was very happy indeed - a minor league team had signed him up after all these years! There was clearly life in the old dog yet, lets just hope he didn't start switching teams again at half time! Wobert had overlooked that at the tournament but normally that kind of behaviour isn't tolerated!

The rotund Commissioner puffed on his cigar and continued to swirl his amber drink, smiling to himself. He'd spent the morning speaking to possible sponsors; it all looked peachy. Does life get any better than this he thought? Then he'd received a knock at the door heralding his first visitor, two more were to follow in quick succession . . .

What Wobert hadn't allowed for wasn't only the demand from the fans, but also from the other old star players. It was clear that they all saw this as being their ticket back to the big time and wanted a piece of the action. The first to arrive was the hulking Black Orc and former Gouged Eye favourite Krug Painspear. In his somewhat simple terms he demanded to be the player featured at the next tournament because the Orcs were the most common team in the tournament just gone. It seemed simple and logical and Commissioner Wobert was not foolish enough to argue with a 300lb death machine . . . . but it seems Stuka Schmiddt, one time Thrower for the Dwarf Warhammerers was happy to. The Dwarf didn't stop to introduce himself. As he stepped into the office he realised what was going on and within the blink of an eye leapt on Painspear's shoulders and began punching him in the back of the head. Wobert squealed and jumped back into his chair to escape the carnage as Schmidtt was slammed through the desk, smashing it clean in half. The Dwarf was soon back on his feet however and was circling the Orc. Wobert decided to keep it simple, whichever one was left alive would be the new poster boy for Auld World Masters II - simple. That was then he felt the blade at his throat. In all the chaos he hadn't seen the Halfling enter the room and this was the meanest little bugger Wobert had ever laid eyes upon.

"You've seen what Halflings can do" hissed Ernald Spiritburner who breath really could fell an Ogre "after Cornish's performance, we've earned our spot in the lime light". Wobert quietly cursed his co-commissioner and wondered where he was. Commissioner Cornish had coached a team of Halflings at the inaugural tournament and if not for the crowd throwing the ball in the wrong direction at the end of the last game might have actually won it! With bloody Halflings! Cornish had not been seen since the game finished but the word was he was being feasted hard in the Moot.

Meanwhile Painspear and Scmidtt had picked up what was left of the office furniture and were hurling it at each other. There was a very real chance no-one would leave here alive including Wobert. The Commissioner needed to think and think fast.

"Stop" shouted Wobert "I've got an idea, let's put it to a vote . . . . . . ".

Firstly the good news is Auld World Masters will be returning! We are going to start to look at venues and dates for next year soon and will post something on TFF to that effect. While we're doing that we thought it might be fun to involve the community with a vote on who the next tournament will feature. We have a short list of 3 who are all from the 2nd edition and have all been tinkered with slightly.

Whichever ones gets the most votes will be the featured star of Auld World Masters II. Anyone can vote, it doesn't matter if you attended AWM I or not. Unlike the Labour party we won't be checking your affiliations!

The vote seems rigged. The Blaock Orc would just be used as a black orc, and the dwarf would be used as LOS fodder. At least the fling has some balls
