Emailed to captains tonight.

And for everyone's information.

Dear Captains

Hello! I'm back again with another couple of important announcements.

1. Boards.

We're asking that you bring old style small boards to the tournament. Space is limited and tables are just large enough. The larger boards in the new edition released last month will unfortunately take up too much space.

2. Social stuff!!

DRINKS. For those wanting to get together for beverages before and/or after the games... on Friday night I recommend we meet at Brew Dog on Micklegate, on Saturday night it's become traditional to meet at The Old White Swan on Goodramgate.

SATURDAY FOOD. Unfortunately with 120 tournament players it's not practical for everyone to eat together. People may want to gather in smaller groups to book places to eat. I understand the Scottish teams have already done this.

To welcome our foreign travelling friends (this year from Spain, the Basque Country, Germany and France EDIT: and Italy, sorry MaD!) the Refs and Jimjimany (a York local) are planning to organise dinner for these guys. We'll book two separate meals. We will all meet up at the Old White Swan afterwards of course!

If you do choose to book with a group there are loads of places to eat. Check TripAdvisor or similar sites. I can recommend Goodramgate as a street with a number of good restaurants. It's also very handy for The Old White Swan!

Thanks

Brendan

I kinda get the idea that our captains are gonna be kinda crappy this year, they will both mostly need my foot up their arse to get anything done...

Anyone up for Friday night shenanigans and even staying over on the Sunday night?

Also any more plans for the Saturday night?
Ruth - I'll be around from Friday afternoon, going back on Sunday night (though do have Monday off to recover).

We've been screwed over a bit. We were coming on the Wednesday for a few days in York, now we have to travel on Friday night and won't be there until late.

Is there a waiting/reserve list for people who are interested but don't have a team? If there is I admit I only read the first and final of the 16 page thread ;)

Hi Indi. A few have been in touch and I do have an informal waiting list. If needed I'll contact people in order they expressed interest. Obviously I'll try to do this with as much notice as possible but it could be very last minute.

Sounds good, Matteo! :)

BTW MaD was asking if anyone is heading to Birmingham on the Sunday night of the tournament / whether anyone could offer a lift. Let him or me know if you can help. Thanks!
