TABLE 7
Let’s pause for breath . . . . give the balls a good fondle . . . . . ready? Right, the next ball is leathery . . .

Well that’s the hat trick! A 3rd Elf team out the bag in a row and once more we’ve gone Dark. Iantheace, elder sibling to the Lizard coach above had a very respectable debut at Exebowl III last year. He will be one of the more favoured rookie coaches for AWM because if he plays the same way then he should finish well up the field. Lizards don't have much in the way of starting skills though . . . will that cost him?

Hmmmm . . . . a hairy ball next? Most odd.

The Dark Elfs opening opponent is the other Norse team at AWM, lead by Dannyuk82. More than anything else he will just be relieved to be playing an adult, no need therefore to break into the BB excuses manual. Norse against Dark Elfs is a decent match up for both coaches who will quietly fancy their chances and set themselves up nicely for the Rookie Wonder award.

Well at least my Miami Dauphinoise don't have to disturb their second feast of the day for their meatball get drawn from the bag. We'll be on our lunch by the time this thing gets juicy and the big (little) boys get drawn.

TABLE 8
Where are we now . . . . ? Table 8 from round 2 will signify upper mid table, still a respectable place to be.

Our 2nd greenskin team out the bag (there are still plenty more to come) is part of the Bristol crew . . . it’s Eski! His Orcs have gone heavy on the extra skills and so will very much live by the sword and die by the sword. Loads of Mighty Blow and Block could potentially make a right mess of someone provided he can avoid any heavily armoured opposition.

Who do the greenies get?

Wow the draw was kind . . . . . surely that casualty award can’t be nailed on this early? Next out the hat (or indeed bag . . . . . its some kind of velvet receptacle) is Thor87, he with the tournament of the same name. Thor is coaching Halflings at AWM this year and may be gang fouling a lot to try and take advantage of all those niggles. Still, at least its not a Dwarf team I guess, there is always a thin silver lining however thin it may feel.

TABLE 9
We’re approaching the half way point and next out the hat is Monkeyboy1985 who will be taking a seat brimming with confidence knowing that last he was an award winner. Playing Skaven again, Monkeyboy1985 is defending his most touchdowns award. He won that in a thrilling 4-3 victory match number 4 and will be hoping for more thrills and spills this time. With all of the bash present, the most TDs competition will most likely be focused on just a handful of teams.

Hoping to thwart Monkeyboy’s free scoring is . . . . . well, well this is intriguing indeed. The next ball has 2 little crowns etched on it – it’s none other than twice NAFC champion KFoged. Those who bet heavily on him romping home to victory at AWM III will be surprised to learn he is playing Halflings. The Skaven will be licking their ratty lips at this one. Now if their armour can just hold against those 3 trees . . . . .

TABLE 10
So who is out the hat next? This is an odd ball . . it seems to be constantly changing colour! Twelfman has changed his name and changed his team back and forth a few times, honestly its like the hockey-cockey in spiked armour at the moment! Anyone he is now locked in as Chaos Renegades with a good deal of mighty blow and a smattering of claw. Not smiling anymore are we Dwarfs and Orc coaches eh? Ha! Now lets point him at some large and lumpy to hit.

Bear with me . . . lets give those balls a damned good shaking up as a few of them seem to be sticking together.

Ok . . . out next . . . . Coach Wolimorb and his Skaven! Well here’s a game that will go one of 2 ways . . . . either the rats will get squished in short order and poor Wolimorb will be pounded into rodent paste or the Renegades will spend most of their time punching the air and the rats run away with a 3-0 win. Another game where both coaches will quietly think they can win it . . . . before the dice are rolled that is.

We're half way and it seems Mrs Wobert has a long list of jobs for me. Take a breather people . . . . 20 coaches down and 20 still to go. A pile of exciting names still in the bag including Cornish, Itchen, Maverick, Gorgoroth, Glowworm plus a whole load of nervous but excited rookies - stay tuned!

To be fair you're 1-0 in our match-ups so you handled the pressure well last time. But 18 others that it could be.

TABLE 11
11 . . . the holy Number of Nuffle, this should be a good one. Blimey . . . . this ball is 3 times the size of the others in there . . . . no idea how this didn’t get picked sooner.

It’s the unofficial ‘Mr Nice Guy’ of the Bloodbowl universe and all round good egg – none other than Speedingbullet. This is his 2nd outing at AWM and he returns with Ogres again this time. If he can start as he ended last time then he could be a surprise package. Actually I'm just trying to big him up a little . . . he's playing Ogres for god sake! Table 16 downwards is calling for round 2!

Out next is another of the green balls . . . . . Ogres v Orcs is rarely good for the Ogre coach . . . . luckily though, this green ball belongs to the Goblins coached by Nightwing! A stunty off in round 1, awesome stuff. The winner here will see the victor take a major stride towards lifting the stunty cup, but who will it be? As much as I like Speedingbullet, I hope it’s Nightwing purely because he has the best team in the entire tournament. Only at AWM will you see 3 bombardiers fielded at the same time . . .3 of them . . . . . .at the same time!!! If the dice are kind these Goblins could beat anyone. There aren't many other easier games than a stunty one so whoever loses this may be walking home with something wooden in their pocket.

TABLE 12
22 coaches out the bag . . . . 18 left . . . . still a lot of the heavy bash waiting for the hand of fate. Who is next?

Coach Maverick – what an AWM he had last year! He started with an opening loss but then his Halflings won 3 straight games, snuck into 3rd place and whipped the stunty crown away from Itchen. He returns with Halflings again this year and will be one of the strong favourites for the stunty cup once more although there is a lot of serious Halfling talent this time around. Let’s see who will be in his way to begin with.

Oh there is a nuffle and she is a sexy and spiteful beast.

What an opening draw! Surely one of the match ups of the round . . . . the next ball out of the hat is only Itchen! Yes the thwarted stunty coach from last year gets the chance for some early doors payback with his Khemri team. Oh wait . . . . . Khemri? Looks like Itchen's quest for revenge may need to be put on hold for another year. Khemri? What were you thinking man?

TABLE 13
Table 13 unlucky for some maybe? Let’s find out!

Dark Zentai took Dwarfs last year to AWM and avoided the wooden spoon by scoring in T16 of the very last game against Rubick. He had a tough, tough draw last year as he opened with Besters and so will be hoping for a gentler start this time around. His Dwarfs are back only this time there is no death roller and so that should help in the 2nd half more.

His opponent is . . . .

Dreamscreator! Hailing from Estalia, Dreamscreator is a renowned stunty coach with a love of Goblins, he has brought goblins again. Well sort of. Hobgoblins anyway. How will Dreamscreator cope without any dodge? You would think this is a fix (honestly its not!) but for the 2nd time in the draw a Dwarf team is pitted against a Chaos Dwarf team – an awful lot of none beards are cheering right now, that's 2 horrible teams avoided in the first round.
