When I was growing up, I was taught the south west ended before Bristol...

Maybe I should start a Real SW Challenge.

Only me and Angry Hobbit can enter. Maybe Exeter

Hey guys,
Thanks for the heads up!

I was under the impression that the SWTC covered SW England and Wales - if the Midlands Series want to pick up NWCC then I think that’s fantastic, and I have no doubt the TO would love that!
If the majority think that’s too geographically far then I’ll bear that in mind going forward, and if I’ve made a mistake with my understanding of the SWTC catchment area - then that’s on me, and I’ll learn from it!

Ben

Aspiring to improve on mid-table mediocrity, over in the SAWBBL.

Fancy an actual one-dayer? Check out The Coffee Cup.

Looking at attending your first tournament? Have a read of this.

I think mistake may be a bit strong :D The SW series grew organically rather than having a constitution so there really isn't anything to reference to.

For context though I seem to remember that there was a discussion about whether Wobert was a bit far north between Cheltenham and Worcester

Traditionally the 'line' would have run from Southampton (i.e. picked up Block'n'Roll's stuff in Southampton but not Isle of Wight stuff) up to Andover and then to Swindon, Cheltenham and Gloucester were northern extent and then anything in 'South' Wales but again more defined by where people were rather than fitting into some box.

There is no absolute reason that NWCC shouldn't be allowed to join but historically it would make more sense for them to be linked with the Midlands guys.

We did have a communication channel set up for the SWC TO's not sure where we are at with that.

I would just like to say something.
In the last couple of years it's mostly been me working this. I made the decision about which events were included. Mostly that was quite an easy choice. North Wales is much closer to the Midlands and was included in the Midlands series, as were a few others (Wobert's things, without actually checking, which is easy to do, the threads are still here on TFF...).
I have also noticed Thor commenting (on Twitter) that his events were not included, but as they were in the South East series that he ran, they can't be in the SWTC. One of the NAF rules about a sanctioned series is that no event can be in two (national series, ie Golden Gauntlet, aside)
That short history of the choice to include or not aside, Ben was the only person who offered to take over running this. No one else came to me. No one else wanted the responsibility of choosing what goes in, how it is run or anything. I feel partly this debate falls on me, maybe I didn't cover all the issues in my handover.

Anyway.... Take it easy on our new guy, I think he's getting a taste of the wider world of NAF tourneys now :)

Don't think I will be too far off the mark when I say we all appreciate your hard work Al - whether we are TO's or participants of the SWTC :)

Also, in case I missed it (which I did  ) - welcome Ben. Thank you for agreeing to help with SWTC.

One of the things SWTC historically gave was a forum to support the Various TO's who have run events under its banner. All I was suggesting above was hopefully we don't lose that. I'll use the contacts I have to hopefully pull the various parties together... Looking at the list above the current incumbents are:

Bournemouth - MrRoberto - Lvl Up Bournmouth Bowl (Beachhead as well??)
Bournemouth - Bonehead - Bonehead Bowl/Sewer Bowl Seven's
Bristol - Loki - BUBBA Bowl/Gert Bowl
Cardiff - MSJavaid - Foodbowl
Cardiff - Twelfman - Elflymics
Cardiff - Hawca - Welsh Championship
Cardiff - 20pheonix - Caerdydd Cup
Cheltenham - Wobert (TBD - Thor??), AWM
Sutton Bengar - Glowworm - Smash'n'Grab
Swindon - Jip - Coffee Cup/Foul Bowl
Swindon - Sann0638 - Cake Bowl

Andover, Southhampton, Exeter, Taunton, Merthr Tydfil would seem to be 'gaps' at the moment

If any of the above see this... whats would your preferred 'forum' for discussion be - Facebook, Whats App, e-mail, private forum here, something else?

I only ran the South Coast Series due to you not allowing the Portsmouth and West Sussex events as part of the SWTC as you deemed them too far away...

Would you be interested in adding the three Isle of Wight events (Sandbowl, Speedbowl and snotbowl) into this? I appreciate the stretch of silent foes put people off but the island is actually pretty accessible and all three tournaments are close to the ferry and connecting island line train :)

Morning All,

Not had access to my pc the last few days so I haven’t been able to paste in the table to this thread - but the current SWTC rankings are live at: https://boneheadpodcast.com/swtc-2020

Hey 20Phoenix!

Well, it wasn’t on the list of “priors”, and I haven’t heard the suggestion of including it until now I’m afraid! I’m sure if the TO wants we can include the 2020 event?!
