Quick Snap! Series - High Wycombe - STILL GOING AHEAD OCT 17

Post by nonumber »

This thread will be used to admin the Quick Snap! Tournament Series and will contain the ticket links for each upcoming scheduled date (i.e. this thread is not just for one date). The thread title will contain the date of the next event for better clarity.

The Quick Snap! Tournament Series runs bi-monthly and allows players in the Buckinghamshire / South of England area regular, reliable access to NAF ranked tournament Blood Bowl (though players from any corner of the world are most welcome of course!). Every two months, Tabletop Republic in High Wycombe will host a one-day, 18-person capped tournament which will have the same rule set each time so players can be confident they know what they're getting themselves into.

The Quick Snap! Tournament Series will begin and end each August with the annual 2-dayer, The Red Trophy, replacing the regular event.

The term “series” is purely to denote the regular nature of the events and attendance at multiple events is of course not required. For all intents and purposes, they are seperate tournaments.

UPDATE - EVENT STILL ON

Here's the notice we posted on our Facebook page which includes the Quick Snap! event.

As per Governmental instruction, social gatherings of more than 6 people are now prohibited, excepting certain circumstances. Tabletop Republic is still able to operate under the parameters of the Government's new measures which states: “COVID-19 Secure venues, such as places of worship, restaurants and hospitality venues, can still host larger numbers in total but groups of up to 6 must not mix or form larger groups”, as such we are still able to welcome customers safely in store to use our table space and hobby areas, but in regards to these new restrictions we cannot allow groups of more than 6 people to attend for this purpose.

In most cases this is straightforward, a typical wargame is played between two people, for example. We have also limited the size of RPG groups we are able to seat around the same table to 6. The issue however arises when we come to the topic of several events we now have in the calendar in the immediate future, such as tournaments and pre-release events in which we intended to accommodate roughly 12-16 people. Rather than cancelling these events, we have developed a simple solution.

Any tournament or other event at which more than 6 people will be attending, we will break down into “groups” of no more than 6 attendees. These groups will abide by the following rules:

+ The groups will be situated, where possible, as far away from each other as we can. Note – this may be immediately adjacent in reality, but if we can put you at opposite ends of the room, we will. All playing spaces at Tabletop Republic are 1m+ apart anyway.

+ SOCIAL CONTACT BETWEEN THESE GROUPS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. If you've been assigned to group “A”, you may not approach anybody from group “B”. This restriction is referenced in section 2.11 of the Government's Q&A - https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... HPPSaRfO6Q
We will absolutely not tolerate anyone “accidentally forgetting” this rule. We cannot stress enough that we are unwilling to be observers to an individual breaking the law. We understand you will be used to wandering over and checking out the competition at an event such as a tournament, but you are only permitted to socialise with players in your own group.

+ These groups continue outside the entrance of the premises. Between rounds, please do not stand outside the entrance to the premises in mixed groups.

+ At no point will we invite you all to “gather round” for scheduling information or awards etc. At all times you will remain in these groups and we'll just have to shout louder!

+ Where possible these groups will be seeded by ability and experience in cases where we have enough information on the player base to do so. (e.g., two very experienced players will be placed in separate groups, in order to attempt an even “distribution of ability” in each group).

+ You may therefore play the same opponent more than once, which usually tournaments etc. attempt to avoid. This is an inevitable outcome given the circumstances. You may perceive X group to be “weaker” or “easier” than Y group. Please give us a break on this, we can only do our best.

+ Event winners will still be determined through overall points accrual and tiebreakers etc. between all groups.

+ Of course, at all times, even within these groups you must observe social distancing.

We understand that for some these restrictions will feel particularly infringing on personal freedoms, or will devalue the attendance of the event. We are open to accept refund requests from anyone that has already paid for an event but that does not wish to attend under these boundaries. However, of course we hope you attend nonetheless, we feel this is the only way to continue with our events for the time being and not cancelling or rescheduling yet another run of events. We are sure that you will still be able to attend, have fun and compete under this structure in a positive way.

Tom

UPDATE - PLAYERS NEEDED

If you're on the fence about Quick Snap! Then now is the time to sign up. We need to get to 12 players to achieve 2 groups of 6. We can in reality pull off the event with two groups of 4 but this would be less than ideal.

If you're looking for a slice of Blood Bowl tournament action then we are providing exactly that in a Covid-safe environment.

All spaces are 1m+ apart.

Rule of Six enforced.

Masks required and hand sanitiser available.

At time of this post we currently do not have sufficient players to run this tournament effectively.
