London Super Bowl VIII - 29 January 2022

Post by Loynster »

General Information

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, WELCOME to Super Bowl VIII— talkNUFFLE’s fourth event of the new
BB2020 rules! The Super Bowls were started back in 2016 by Jay and the
Hard 6 crew. It is an honour to keep up their traditions of Bloodbowl and
carnage.
Super Bowl VIII will aim to capture the ethos of the Super Bowls, but with a
less-balanced, much more competitive spin. It will of course be
characterised by the same mayhem, awesome prizes and party atmosphere
as the Super Bowls.
This event will be held at Rule Zero, a fabulous, bespoke gaming venue with
it’s own licensed bar and fully equipped kitchen, as well as beautiful
outdoor area right on the canal!
There will be coverage of the event provided by the talkNUFFLE podcast
and Tackle Zone. We’d also like to thank Exit 23 Games for providing prize
support to our events as always.
This document will provide you with everything you need to know about
Super Bowl VIII. We look forward to seeing you there!!

kitchens and may be purchased during any of the breaks - you

Team Roster

- Any of the teams in the BB2020 rulebook or Spike magazines (released
up to the day of the event) may be used as well as the 6 teams in the GW
Teams of Legend PDF.
- Coaches may either spend: up to 1.15 million gold on their team and take
no stars; or up to 1.1 million gold and select up to ONE star. In the latter
case you must select 11 players on your roster before taking a star.
- No other inducements may be taken aside from bribes (all teams may
take bribes - note that if your team has the Bribery & Corruption rule
they may select bribes at the discounted rate of 50k).
- There are no tiers at Super Bowl VIII, just tears. Bring your filth or go
home and cry to your mum. (Dice cups are useful to fill with salty tears).
- Coaches have 54 star player points to distribute to their players as they
see fit, after their team has been bought from the 1.1 or 1.15 million
allocation depending on whether you wish to take ONE star or not.
- Skills may be chosen or taken as random selections as per the
advancement table on pg 71 of the BB2020 rulebook. They cost the
amount dictated (so a first Primary skill taken as a chosen skill on a
player would be 6 SPP, but a first Primary skill taken as a random skill
would be 3 SPP; a second Primary skill taken as a chosen skill would be
8 SPP, and a second Primary skill taken as a random skill would be 4
SPP).
- Secondary and Characteristic Improvement selections are allowed, but
only after a player has at least one Primary skill (either chosen or
random). Again at the cost dictated in the table on pg 71.
- Any random or Characteristic Improvement selections will be rolled for
at the start of EACH game.

Scoring

- Win = 10pts - Draw = 5pts - Loss = 0pts

Special Plays

In addition to the above points, there will be 4 Special Play bonus points on
offer at the event. At the start you will receive 6 Special Play cards. You
MUST play just one of these cards in each game and each card may only be
played once. You will ONLY play and DO NOT have to play all 6 over the
event. Both players will play a card face down and flip at the same time
after both teams are set up in the 1st half. You will receive 1pt for each
Special Play you achieve during the event.

The Special Plays are as follows:

- Win a game by 2 or more Touchdowns
- Score a touchdown in the first 4 turns of EITHER half
- Stall for one turn before scoring a TD (as per the rules found on page 64
of the BB2020 rulebook)
- Cause 2 or more casualties in one game
- Remove a player from the pitch by fouling (KO or injury)
- At the start of the game nominate one player on your opponents team -
score this by removing that player form the pitch (KO or injury)

Tie Breaks

In order to determine the final standings at the end of the event tiebreakers
will be applied as follows:

- Touchdown difference
- Casualty difference (if a player is in the injury box at any stage, its a cas)
- Touchdowns scored
- Casualties inflicted (by any means, if it’s in the box, it counts)
- Strength of Schedule
- Fight to the death…or dice roll if both coaches don’t agree (boo!)

Prizes

- 1st Place
- 2nd Place
- Mr Mayhem (most casualties)
- Jeremiah Kool Award (most TDs)
- Best Painted (Judges choice)
- Master Chef (highest ranked of Tier 3
teams (as per the BB2020 Tiers))

And yes all sanctioned! There was a problem NAF-end now resolved.

Could you use your moderator hat to remove all the confusing posts on this thread ref sanctioning and my date mistakes?

Thanks!

FAQ note for the Super Bowl. The rules state you may take ONE star player at a cost of -50k for you total team build.

You may still take the Swift Twins for Elven Kingdoms teams. In this case they still count as the ONE star player allowed due to the rules stating they must be taken as a pair.
