I was toying around with a tournament idea.
Each coach brings a team. Any team will do. The team from your home league, a team from years ago, a made up star team. High TR, low TR. Doesn't matter as long as it's not lower than 100 TR and is a legal roster. You must have two copies of the team roster and a full set of figures.
The tournament is double elimination. If you lose two games you are out of the competition.
Teams are matched up using a swiss system with eliminated teams removed from the pool.
When two coaches sit down to play, the coach of the team with the lowest TR can call a switch. Players are now playing the other coaches team.
Example: Greg brings a goblin team with a TR of 150. His opponent for this round is Fred with his 175 Orc team. Greg may elect to "switch" and play the Orc team instead of his own team.

I think you are dreaming if you think...
#1 that any roster from 10 years ago from some little league (most likely house ruled beyond a recognition could fairly play against another team from a vanilla league in a tournament.
#2 that anyone is going to show up with a team with a 175 TR! lol Try about 300!
#3 that 99% of the rosters brought in won't be bogus beardy pieces of filth that were slapped together by people who only want to win at any costs.
In short, it's a nice idea but only in theory.

Well, if I were to attend that tournament and really wanted to win, I would bring a very low TR, poorly planned team with mostly useless skills (etc) and then I would call a Switch every time, meaning I would be slaughtering my own team each match, but should win every match too...

Redfang has a point though.
I could turn up with 16 halflings, 1 FF, and a 510k treasury, and that's a legal roster.
Unless I had to play someone else who had a TR100 roster, I'd switch every time.
Nice idea, but not in practice methinks.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Thanks a lot, Darkson!

16 halflings and gold in the treasury, come on, you're overdoing it.Darkson wrote: I could turn up with 16 halflings, 1 FF, and a 510k treasury, and that's a legal roster.
Try 11 Halflings, 1 FF, 66 assistant coaches
Would make a guaranteed final with two halfling teams (same lineup of course).

Crazy = yes.
Fun = no.
Allowing people to devise rosters is unavoidably going to lead into problems, some of which are outlined above. My guess would be that unless done between friends, this kind of a tournament would produce a lot of aftertalk.

Ah but I have a cunning plan, I'm taking an undead team. 7 skeletons, 4 zombies, 1 FF, 2 TRR and 52 cheerleaders.grep-v wrote:16 halflings and gold in the treasury, come on, you're overdoing it.Darkson wrote: I could turn up with 16 halflings, 1 FF, and a 510k treasury, and that's a legal roster.

I'll lose to every team - except yours

You're getting close. The worst possible team would have to be 11 zombies (too slow to even get to the ball, let alone pick it up) with 100 niggling injuries each, -2 on all stats and 30 SPPs each (all having gained +1ST, lost through an injury, and shadowing, which is great with 2 MA!), 1 FF. No rerolls, cheerleaders or money for freebooting.

you need the lowest TR the be able to switch sides, so 30 SPP each is not a good idea; you've got to stay at TR100!

Ah, but then when we met in the final my team would beat yours because you couldn't swap.Zombie wrote:You're getting close. Really its an exercise to create the worst TR100 team that can beat all other "worst TR100 teams".
