However you play online - Java, Vassal, Email, Cyanide etc - talk about it here.
This is also the place for discussing the various tools for managing leagues, teams and so on.

Tried to update OBBLM and broke it

Post by LutonBloodBowl »

hey all,

i purchased Mercury VPS with obblm built in yesterday and basically ive destroyed it and i don't know how to fix it at all...

naturally being the idiot i am I didnt back it up (i wont lose much anyway, looking to use obblm for next season - mid 2019)

Could someone help me through process of fixing this?

this is the error i get when trying to load my website:
http://www.lutonbbl.com/

Could not connect to the MySQL server.
Is the MySQL server running?
Are the settings in settings.php correct?
Is PHP set up correctly?

thanks for any help.

You should also get a cpanel login with Mercury VPS https://cp2.mercuryvps.com:2083/
Need your login credentials
That's where you can create backups and check sql etc
Do you know how you broke it, editing files

I replaced all the files stupidly (thinking this is how you update it) in my cPanel File Manager

I'm guessing it has something to do with my settings.php.

could we run through what each one should be?
I have updated it to what i think it should be but the website still won't load...

my error log says this:
[27-Jan-2019 14:14:15 UTC] PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'lutonbbl_obblm'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home2/lutonbbl/public_html/lib/mysql.php on line 846

Very strange. Just checked on IE at work and it seems to be working.

I was using chrome at home and it was in a list...

I’ve seen people mentioning deleting their cache but I’m unsure on how to do that

Do you think that could be the problem?

This is a caching issue with Chrome, it's not recognising that your CSS file has changed and is rendering your site with the cached copy. That's why it's seemingly platform specific for you.
Clear the browser cache and you should be back to normal.

I broke my install before too. If you contact MercuryVPS they can roll it back to a day you know was working. They likely won't do this repeatedly but they will rescue you at least once.

I've made a duplicate install for testing purposes. Just be sure to create a separate database.
