However you play online - Java, Vassal, Email, Cyanide etc - talk about it here.
This is also the place for discussing the various tools for managing leagues, teams and so on.

Some Folks played a "Spectator Match" last Night.

They were wondering if it was possible to "Talk to the Players" during a match.

Question: Can Spectators talk to each other and/or the Coaches using the in game Chat Window ?

If not, could you possibly implement a option to chat to everybody in the Game. Possibly give the names a "mute button" so in someone is flooding, you can squelch him.

spectators can't talk to the coaches and rightly so

there is nothing worse than some onlookers giving advice and stuff, specially at a tournament or such the game should be between the 2 coaches involved

its fun talking to the other specs as well when the coaches can't hear your, kinda like commentators ;]

Right.

My Request:

Implement a "Chat Options Menu" for the Host.
Options will be:
A. Coaches can talk to each other, but not to spectators / Spectators can talk to each other, but not to coaches.
B. Host can choose to allow "Send to All" Option.

This is to make it possible for players to ask questions and the like, while learning how to play the game online.

Yes I left some debug code in 5.7, so now there is a 5.7b.

It is on my list to add an option to allow spectators to chat to players. Leagues that don't want that can leave it turned off. I haven't done it yet because there are more important things that need to get done and I need to figure out a way to get it working for games through the proxy. Direct games are also a bit of a pain since the spectator messages only go through the server. I'll need to have the server catch them, display them, and forward them to the client in a way that the client knows they are spectator messages and colors them appropriately. Not necessarily hard stuff, but tedious and very uninteresting to do. :)
