GenCon pics
Here are some of my pics from GenCon (mostly from the tourney)
First night in Indy before the Con openned. Seated around the table L to R; Darthnoir, OMM, Justin Kane(?)on NAF (but VAL to everyone else), Jaylazer, JJ, and the couple who's names escape me right now
Hey Gandalf! Is that you?? And who's the freak beside you?? Looks like some Matrix refugee not someone from Middle Earth.
Outside the dealers room just before openning.
Gotta love chainmail babes!
JJ at the Seminar on Thursday
The Board Games room where the BB tourney was held (this was in the morning before the toureny started)
The permanent trophy with the names of the winners on it (not given away)
Xtreme and his wife
A cool looking custom pitch with a close-up of the dug-out.
My first opponant with his orc team. Lost to him, but he was a very sporting player and it was a good game.
Some of the other early round action
My second opponant and his woodies. Lost again, I was playing CDs so should be a surprise.
My last game of the day was against Val and his wonderfully converted Khemri team (he stayed up all night to finish painting it). I was beaten up by his mummies but it was probably the best game (most enjoyable) of the toureny. Gave Val the top marks for sportsmanship, he was a great opponant (and he never fouled in any of his matches)
Dinner after the tourney;
The Geek table; (can't remember the first guy who's head's half showing....think it's ...Mike?) Darthnoir, Gken, Val, Karl Lagerbottom, Jaylazer
The Cool Table (wher I was sittling of course); OMM, Lawquoter, Xtreme's brother, Mrs X and Xtreme, CyberHare, JJ.
Friday morning, the second day of the tourney. Val and LQ still recovering from the night before
Darthnoir and Gken decide to show them both what "Nuffle Love" is all about.
The first game of day two had people dropping out and having me play CyberHare (the odd man out, filled in for this game) with his amazons
Game was called due to time (our game started late) and I had a BC near the goal with the ball (may have scored the winning TD, we will never know), but ended in a tie.
Last game was against the kid who called IP on Snots last year playing the same norse team. I told him we weren't going to use IP this game, he agreed, but fouled every turn and ignored the ball. He tried to foul me twice on the final turn, well didn't really expect more from a 9yr old (didn't let him get away with it though), and yes, I won 5-0 and gave as good as I got with 5 CAS for and 6 against.
The best painted team finalists with Xtreme's Ladies Lovin' Wood (bottom pic) winning the prize
Galak working hard to get the final results done
Galak's brother wins the Championship (it wasn't fixed...really)
Runner-up
Wolfgang takes trophy for most points in the tourny
Darthnoir, the most sporting (that's what I heard from the guys sharing the other room)
Val gets the most CAS award
As mentioned Xtreme takes best painted (2nd year in a row)
Jaylazer takes most TD scored prize
Psuedo-Green (psycodelic?) Lantern takes Least TDs allowed (I think)
The kid takes the Wooden spoon
The past 2 year's Champion hoisting the permanent trophy
Wolfgang handing off the trophy to this year's Champion
This year's GenCon Bowl Champion
Pics of the Deathbowl game that went on Saturday night after the tourney
Lawquoter presents Karl Lagerbottom with the cherished "Found Poker Chip" award for the win
Triumph!!

Is it just me, or does JJ look utterly hammered in the first pic?

The one thing that gets me is the guy at the Geek table who you don't know his name.
That is Jonathan Dunnavant. Now he is not an NAF member (we only had 7 of the 53 coaches not be NAF). Its a big surprise to me to see him out of dinner with you guys and not be an NAF member. Its not a requirement at all and I'm not trying to imply that it is ... just a surprise that's all.
[EDIT .... just found out from jaylazer that Jonathan is joining the NAF this week.]
