Peeps arriving Friday night who can't find King John's Tavern give me a call:

07855 340 165

Might be useful to call me if you can't find the venue saturday morning too ;)

OK see you all Friday/Saturday...

Pip

Anyone looking to share a room anywhere to cut down on costs?

Or it might have to be blind drunk in the gutter again :wink:

Yeah, bit disappointed that Wouldy's not coming. Was looking forward to seeing how Time & Tide coped with him. :(

Stick's coming. A truly multi-people help out to rescue the non-Wouldy situation. Hangus is picking him up, dropping him off to stay at my parent's, Max is giving him a lift back to Manc and then he's stopping Sun at mine. Also I think he's bringing an Orc team up for me to borrow :D

Yes a shame but the joys (or stresses!) of moving are not good.....

The ironic thing is that I was the first person to pay too!

Hope it's a good weekend for all anyway.

Cheers

Richard

Yup, the first Monkeybowl is over. And I'm cream crackered!

Thanks to everyone who came especially my bro Schmee for stepping in to do the number crunching at the last minute (and not playing).

Little disappointed that there were a fair few last minute drop outs. You all missed out on a top time!

OK so here are the final placings - slightly amended after a recount :-? :D The list shows points in bold and TD difference in brackets:

Winner: Lucifer (orc) 80 [+11]

Runner up: Glum_Ellis (undead) 44 [+2]

3= Pippy (amazon) 49 [+7]
3= Max_Horseman (khemri) 49 [+4]
5. Geggster (orc) 44 [+2]
6. Frazer Eden (human) 38 [+4]
7. ProfessorK (skaven) 35 [-1]
8. Dwarfcoach (norse) 33 [+0]
9= Eddy (orc) 31 [-1]
9= Stick (ogre) 31 [-6]
11. Gregz (wood elf) 30 [-2]
12. Obi-marley (ogre) 22 [-10]
13. Hangus (necro) 18 [-2]
14. Jai (skaven) 7 [-7]

Off to enter the NAF results right now...

Massive thanks to Pippy and Shmee for the organisational side of things, Ben, Paul, Aron and Ian for travelling to the event and Marley, Harnish, Greg, Ed, Max and Glum for the games.

Right, off now to start a new thread in the Vault section.... "Orcs are more overpowered than Amazons" :wink:

Congrats again Geoff! Thanks to all my opponents too (Ed, Max, Kev, Glum, Geggster, Stick)

NAF results will be a few days - waiting for ambush3's NAF registration to be confirmed (that's frazer btw)

Though I wonder how you won, and with what lineup.

Did you get into trouble in any game, lucky or unlucky (likewise for opponents), did you ever score twice ( :D I know your style), concentrated on messing up the opponent, or on not allowing any TD's, etc etc.

Curious, because I could never consistently outscore some teams with orcs, though that was when I still thought two throwers were a good idea.

Very simple lineup, very simple strategy (the complex bit is in the execution of the strategy, but that remains a secret ;-) ). 4 x Black Orcs, 4 x Blitzers, 4 x Linemen, 1 apo, 3 x RR, 3 x FF. Skills were: Block (Black Orc), Block (Black Orc), Guard (Blitzer), Block (Black Orc), Block (Black Orc), Guard (Blitzer). Total lock out on all games (nearest the ball came was 3 squares from my end zone but it was on the ground :D), scored in every one. Games were 3-0 (ogres, 1-0 up @ halftime), 2-0 (Skaven, 1-0 up @ halftime), 2-0 (Wood Elves, 1-0 up @ halftime), 1-0 (Orcs, 0-0 @ halftime), 1-0 (Khemri, 1-0 up @ halftime), 2 or 3-0 (Undead, 1-0 up @ halftime - very tired at this point). Kicked in every game. In the final game I had 5 x double skulls rolls... :pissed: Strategy is simple:
1) Kick
2) Stop them scoring
3) Receive
4) Score

If you can turn them over on the kick and go in 1-0 up at half time then it's xmas as you don't even need to score in the 2nd half... it's them who HAVE to get the ball off you to even draw. If they sit off then they lose so they are forced to commit players to the brawl. At this point you find the weak spot, hammer through and then you're 2-0 up and they can't even draw now.

Just worked out the Amazon stats - scored in 93% of games played and conceded no TDs in 50%.

Nearly the same lineup as I took/will take (-Apo +RR) though I'd get guard on BoB's as first two skills.

How did you fare with less guard, but more block on the BoB's?

Thanks to Pippy, Schmee and co for a good weekend.

And the Patterson's for putting me up.

5, yes FIVE draws for me out of six games. Fun games though as they were all dead close (obviously).

Congrats Geoff (again). Grrr! Going to have to nobble you somehow........ Maybe eleven longbeards for the Bloodbowl...... :lol:
