WPS Club Challenge - UK

Post by darren woodward »

After playing FoW for what seems like yonks i've been drawn back to BB and signed up for the CC. I'm more than rusty and will probably only get a game or two before the CC but what the hell.

its a 1.1M event with no SPPs and a random player given a skill/trait roll
(before the 1st game) and after each game - no stat increases are permitted. Deaths/injuries are cured for the next game and generated skills are not lost.

I have Skaven and CDs. I'm leaning towards the CDs with:

* Minator
* 2 BCs
* 5 CDs
* 4 Hobs
* 3 RRs
* 2 FF

I could swap the 12th Hob for an Apothecary but thought the extra player may be useful.

Couldn't resist the Minator as its 1.1M :wink:

Any thoughts. Thanks, D

Yes, if you take the Minotaur you will do dreadfully. :( They are are dumb cows and a complete liability. You have good blitzers already in your Bulls, and could do with the sixth CD anyway.

Seriously? I've not played under the new WA rules but they looked toned down to me and the Minotaur is an ideal blitzer.

Main problem is that Big Guys cannot take Block. Thanks, D

The ideal blitzer is a Bull Centaur ... :wink: Why volunteer to lose your Blitz! action one time in six?? An opponent with any sense won't let you Frenzy people off the sidelines anyway.

Every time you blitz with a Mino, he has a 30% chance of wasting the action or causing a turnover. That doesn't seem like an action you be relying on. If you give him Block and have a re-roll handy, a Bull Centaur has a 0.8% of casuing a turnover.

The real problem with WA is on defence anyway. Once they get tipped the 4+ roll just to stand up effectively ends their meaningful participation. Unless you want to waste your Blitz! action just to stand him up. Which ain't gonna win you any games. :wink:

Understood - thanks.

However - no guarantee that the BCs will get Break Tackle no matter how many TDs they get as random players get the skills. Without their mobility they're stuffed

that may be the problem withthe random skill thing.

I personally like the mino on my norse, because of the frenzy (5 times frenzy .. yummie) but the AV8 and WA troubles can be a good reason not to take one on CD's ..

ok, WA is a no no then, so

CDs

2 BC
6 CD
4 Hobs
3 RR
5 FF

or Skaven

4 GR
2 SV
2 Th
5 LR
3 RR
FF 3

i'm not certain that i even need throwers here but they could prove useful with the randon skill thing. otherwise i could just take 7 LR and have 4 RR

Any more thoughts. Thanks, D

However, I am with Grum. I too always take a Mino - he is a must and at 1.1M I usually get an apo in the line up just for him. BC's are just not cost effective, well maybe take one but like Grum I tend to avoid them and neither Jon or I seem to do to badly with that line up.

Well thats really scr*wed up my selection plans. Thanks fellas :lol:

So what about the Mino being this huge liability under WA!!??

I'm not experienced enough a player to leave the BCs in the pen. But i could get a Mino and 2 BCs in a starting (1.1M) lineup. So, back to plan A:

* Mino
* 2 BCs
* 5 CDs
* 4 Hobs
* 3 RRs
* 2 FF
