That leaves me with 15 guys that actualy play, among this 15 i have 7 students that can´t afford to go , and the rest most of them have other things.

That leaves me with 3 ou 4 players confirmed.

So the Portuguese system is, contact me or the organization and you are going.

thanks

Tiago
Don't worry... If you don't find enough players, come to Italy we will surely find someone interested in Portugese citizenship :D :D :D
and you'll have your eight "Portoguese" coaches to form your team ;) ;) ;)

good read guys

what I know of the dutch EB selection:

First year Lucy and Redfang decided that to host the tournament the Netherlands needed a team that included both the National Champion (Bluedevil) and a representative team of guys that were important for the dutch BB scene (thus the commishes of the 3 leagues were in there, together with the father of dutch BB (norse) and a TBB active bloke.

Second year two players dropped out so for replacements we looked at the league that was underrepresented at first (miloquaser) and added a guy that was able to go.

Third year many guys dropped out for different reasons. THe tournament was (for some) expensive and parenthood amongst others. To get a team togheter redfang promised some guys that if they'd go that year, they'd have first pick next (this) year. Back came ramz and me (now also teamcaptain) who were unable the previous year.

For next year (worldbowl) I'm still thinking. There's several ways of forming the team that are running through my head and I may even (or actually probabely) combine them.

Dutch champ - should be in the team
Team captain - duh
'Important' guys for dutch BB - fishy but if you want a BB representative (not nessecarily BB effective) team you can't get round these blokes (I think commishes, guys of infuence (good ideas) etc. etc)
A selection thing - based on results in normal tournies, maybe finishing in the top 20% ...

to form a 8 man squad I can mix these items (and maybe more) AND look who's able to go ... hopefully it works

5 pages and I wonder just how far team Italy have got from this.....

I still say (and I saw that line was picked up by someone) if as a team you win it...you earn the right the right to defend it. Go back to page 2 for the reasons.

oh yeah, Indi, stop saying Tulips is NAF rated! I have seen you told off before for that as it never once has been!!!

from my experiences there is one rule that must be followed for the good of your team:

1) No ginger people

Just to keep you informed about Italian Team...
It was opened a poll where coaches may vote among different options:
1) Pure Captain selection (the Captain is chosen and he elects the 8 players he considers as the best team)
2) Forced Captain Selection (12 best players according to FIBB National Ranking are the coaches where the Captain can choose his 8 from)
3) Mixed Selection (Best 6 players of the FIBB ranking + 2 chosen by the Captain)
4) Trials Method (Two-days-tourney to select the best 8 among a list of the best FIBB ranked coaches)
5) Pure FIBB (Best 8 players in the FIBB ranking)

Only coaches with a participation in a national/international two-days-tourney are allowed to cast their vote.
The Poll will be over on 16th of July at midnight.

We will keep you informed as long as you are interested in our saga :D :D :D

I think a certain Nottingham local would disagree. She nearly clubbed our resident ginge over the head and dragged him into her cave (next door to the hotel)...

Eurobowl team deciding

Post by Topper »

DK´s story.

Year 1: 8 coaches from AROSBB league decided to join and thus they did.

Year 2: same story except now new ppl wanted in, we decided to use the same again and one extra who wanted to be a spectator.

Year 3: This year some of the old ones have fallen off, because of financial reasons - but several new faces were interested.
So we have decided to do it like this:

1) I am team captain, but I am not dictator. I believe I am chosen because ppl believe that I am fair in case any "hard" choises are to be made.

2) Any player who gathered 4 pts at last yrs Eurobowl are self assigned to the new team (unless he is a complete morron).

3) If we should manage to win the same players will naturally defend the title.

4) The best and/or nicest coaches are asked if they are interested - everyone aswers, and hopefully not too many can...
This year we ended up with 11 players.
1 came later and so was ruled out, 2 have decided to join team and thus just 1 will have to be removed somehow...

The biggest problem is that we´re mixing ppl from all around Denmark, because so many want to play.
But since we don´t know about their social sides, I have been asking some of my contacts throughout the BB community about ppl.
This have made it somewhat easier.

I hope we will have a good laugh again this year, even with a mixed team.
