The VIII. Dungeon Bowl Pre-Tournament Report Part 1

Post by CoachRattenfetza »

Bob: Good evening sport fans! Welcome to the Pre-Tourney Report for this years Dungeon Bowl. With me in the booth is Jim Johnson, hello Jim.

Jim: Thanks Bob! What's this broadcast about? With under a week to go, expectations are high - only 25 teams have registered yet. Will this be a flop for the dwarven gild in Barack Varr and a very straight tourney in these numbers?

Bob: Far from it Jim! Until now only 25 teams have been registered, but with all starting positions sold out, this years Dungeon Bowl will be the climax of the first quarter in the tournament calender... With teams like Runner Up 2010 "VAPOURSQUAD OF PESTILENCE", Champion 2009 "SNOWFLAKE'S ASSASSINS" already on their way, fans and sponsors alike can expect a Blood Bowl festival.

Jim: On friday night, we will bring you the Dungeon Bowl Pregame Show, live on Cabalvision: we provide you with Stats, the favourites and our insider tipp(s).

Bob: Thanks for watching.

Jim: Here we are again with this Dungeon Bowl special. My name is Jim Johnson and with is Bob Bifford. Say Hello Bob!

Bob: Hello. Fans and coaches alike can't wait for this event to start. The organisers have just finished with their preparations yet and with 50 teams registered, there will be hell on the loose tomorrow.

Jim: Yeah, and that's are more than 50% for all our statistic-friends out there... With a total of 96 coaches anticipated, we are more than keen, what this years Dungeonbowl is all about.

Bob: The fans are willing to agree in this point, but what about more figures - how many times did the same team win the title? What about streaks and maybe a "dynasty"?

Jim: All right, in the history of the Dungeonbowl in these days, only two teams managed to put their names twice on the famous "Hall of Fame": And they both are Skaven. We are talking about the consecutive champion of 2504-2505, CHEEKY BERLINS and a team, who just managed to come in second in 2504 and 2510, the VAPOURSQUAD OF PESTILENCE.

They are fast, they are sneaky, they are Skaven and they are both favourites again, for many of the spectators and commentators alike.

Bob: Right now, it is not confirmed that the CHEEKY BERLINS will be playing in this years tourney - do you got any insider informations?

Jim: Whoa - nothing but a "nose" for those things... (and their Rat Ogre is smelling fifty paces against the wind).

Bob: What about other top tipps; there have been six champions left, with two titles for the legendary CHEEKY BERLINS?

Jim: We received a few minutes ago, that the dwarven expedition of the DODGY DWARVES had made their way to Barack Varr just in time, to defend their title. They managed a very impressive tourney last year and as current champion, are a force to count on. Their Runner Up have been the NEW BERLIN PATRIOTS, a Elven team, led by their Quarterback (so they called their Thrower) "Brady". They played also well and are part of the "Berlin Connnection"; which includes no less than 3 teams who managed to win, or come in second (the third will be the Berlin Riats (Orc)).

Bob: Ok? There has been also a female coach, putting her feet onto the sacred Dungeon ground - her team the so called LOS GOMEROS (Lizardman), have come in second in 2507, after I think 3-4 years sharing the last positions with teams like CATERING SERVICE (our favourite for "Best Stunty" at the last years tourney).

Jim: Yes, she and her scaled firends played famous and it all came down to a climatic showdown in the Dungeon, against the KÖNIGLICHER STARKBIERVERNICHTER CLUB (Dwarf), who lift the cup in 2507.

Bob: Never to forget the other dwarven team playing in the finals in 2506, the KARAK ZORN CRUSHER, who by the way stepped in and argumented for a Trophy for all the teams which come in second.

Jim: It is interesting and also part of my suspicion of a Blood Bowl conspiracy against the children of the night, and probably the whole Undead race, that only one team in all the eight years of our reports and the Tournament, managed to get into the finals (and lost, of course!).

Bob: You are talking about the CARNIVAL OF CHAOS in 2509. They performed so well, that they, yeah just seemed to be bleeded out in the final... Please let me know, if you can remember just one important game in the last 1500 years featuring my fellow ogres and not just for haltime show.

You seem to be blinded by these sunglasses you are wearing, or even getting mad on your diet on young (dwarven) maiden. Girls with beards and such...

Jim: That's not true! We will see, the dead will rise again (and again, and again, ...) Like these new cabalvision shows, featuring all these strange creatures - and well this is our cue to get on with "Necromancers Next Top Zombie".

Bob: Thanks for watching and we will see us tomorrow. Good Night!

Jim: Ouch! Sorry for the delay - the Dungeon Bowl 2511 is well underway, but after our report from last night, Bertha Bigfist stormed in and showed us her sight of Suspicions and prejudices - we just forget to mention the Runner Up 2508 and Champion 2506 BJB'ers (Amazon). Ladies, we are sorry for this!

Could you please put Bob out of his misery and let him back on his feet, dear Bertha?

Bob: Hey folks, that has been a encounter of a very brutal manner.

So with no further delay here are some quick facts about this years Dungeon Bowl:

- 94 Coaches have entered the fray
- about 87 NAF coaches
- 7 Amazon
- 1 Chaos
- 5 Chaos Dwarf
- 1 Chaos Pact
- 7 Dark Elf
- 8 Dwarf
- 4 Goblin
- 1 Halfling
- 1 High Elf
- 4* Human
- 2 Khemri
- 3 Lizardman
- 2 Necromantic
- 7* Norse
- 1 Nurgle
- 8 Orc
- 2 Pro Elf
- 9 Skaven
- 1 Slann
- 11 Undead
- 1 Vampire
- 8 Wood Elf

*1 Drop out (Human) + 1 Substitution Player (Norse)

Bob: Maybe we should recapitulate the Rules for this Tournament, Jim?

Jim: Each coach got 1.050.000 GP to build their team – there is only one Starplayer allowed, but just a couple of teams invested their gold in these loners, yet. Most of them recruited some extra Coaching Staff, one or two substitutes and the obligatory Apothecary!

It is important to know, that each casualty will be replaced by eager rookies, waiting for their chance – so no team suffers injuries during the tournament, but still during the game.

Bob: What about the games itself, will all be held in dungeons?

Jim: Like the past six years, only the two finalists (after round 5) will face-off in the depths of Barack Varr’s catacombs here at the Drakenburg.

Jim: Can you tell the spectators something about the teams which have been signed up, yet and leave maybe a comment or two about their role and chances?

Bob: As mentioned before, the Champions and Runner Ups could play an important role; as there are present the DODGY DWARVES, CHEEKY BERLINS, VAPOURSQUAD OF PESTILENCE, BERLIN RIATS, SNOWFLAKE ASSASSINS and NEW BERLIN PATRIOTS.

We decided to keep focused on the current Champion; the DODGY DWARVES, CHEEKY BERLINS and SNOWFLAKES ASSASSINS.

Jim: But with also 5 so called Stunty teams, which role will they play? I mean, with all those Undead, Necromantic and Vampire team(s) involved, they should be easy meat...

Bob: Too true! But we will keep our eyes on THE AWFUL GREEN THINGS (Goblin).

86 The Awful Green Things Goblin Marc Hohmann 0 TP 0 - 3 2 - 4

Jim: Whoa - Dave and his Undead are unstoppable! 10 Cas' in 2 games and he is still moving and thrashing around - to get his player re-animated.

Bob: Some wise man said, "Defense wins Tournaments" - and lock at these figures: just one team in the Top 10 ranking got more than 1 Touchdown.

Jim: And with at least 2 Undead teams (and no Amazon, just for for the sake of completeness) the Death rule!

Bob: I haven't seen so much variation in teams on the Top 10 in, yer, ahem days. That's Blood Bowl!

Jim: Too true. The last round for this day is under way; with the "swiss system" the PLATE OF SAND is facing the infamous VAPOURSQUAD OF PESTILENCE in the Barack Varr Arena.

Bob: Maybe Felix can put a stopp (or a picket) to their domination.

Looks like the conspiracy was busted with an al Undead final this year ;)

Jim: Ladies and Gentlemen! OK Bob, your baby dog is also welcome - to the Final of the 8th Dungeon Bowl!

Bob: And whatever you have heard, there is still a place for Undead in this sport...

Jim: And the best thing is: A Undead team has won the title!

Bob: There have been two of them in the final...

Jim: Whatsoever- we will provide you soon with a match report from our two reporters Holger and Micha.

Congratulations to both teams and the new Dungeon Bowl Champion BOOGIE BEANS!
