The VIII. Dungeon Bowl Tournament Report Part 2

Post by CoachRattenfetza »

Jim: Welcome back Sport friends! Bloodweiser presents to you the final of the VIII. Dungeon Bowl! With me is Bob Bifford, my name is Jim Johnson - here we go!

Bob: What a tournament so far - the two top ranked teams (both Undead), are preparing for the ultimate showdown. And that in familiar surroundings - more than six feet under...

Jim: Here are our two reporters direct from below the earth - Micha and Holger, providing you with stats, figures and the match report.

Micha: Hello fans! Let us take a look at the two top teams performance so far:

1 Plate of Sand 15 TP TD+ 12 & TD's- 2 - Cas+ 17 & Cas- 7 - W5-T0-L0
2 Boogie Beans 15 TP TD's+ 6 & TD's- 0 - Cas+11 & Cas-12 - W5-T0-L0

Both managed five consecutive wins but there is also the end of their similarity, here are their facts in numbers:

+++ OFFENSE +++
The PLATE OF SAND scored more TD's (12 - 2,4 average/ game) and also performed a 17 Cas (3,4 average/ game) streek. Their highest result was the impressive 5:0 (6:2 Cas) win over the DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY (Amazon) - also their rocket like start into this tournament.

BOOGIE BEANS scored only 6 TD's so far (1,2 average/ game) and inflicted only 10 (2 average/ game) Casualties. Their highest win was a 2:0 (with 2:3 Cas) against the EVIL DEADS (Undead, too?) in game 2.

SPIKE! Magazine Rating:
PLATE OF SAND 8/9
BOOGIE BEANS 5/9

+++ DEFENSE +++
The BOOGIE BEANS allowed "0" (that's "0" average/ game) TD's! They are the only team so far, that didn't get a score against them (followed only by the ORC SCRATCHINGS with 1).

After their impressive start, the PLATE OF SAND had two hard games, not only won by one TD, but also went 0:1 in game 4 against the Norse BARBAR JÄGERS.

SPIKE! Magazine Rating:
BOOGIE BEANS 9/9
PLATE OF SAND 7/9

+++ KEY PLAYERS +++
BOOGIE BEANS - The team consists of 12 Players:
2 Mummies - 2 Wights - 3 Ghouls - 3 Zombies - 2 Skeletons
Their working machine is the trio of Ghouls ("Slobb - Block, Dobb - Block and Gob - Sure Hands"), who shared the majority of the BEANS' Offense success. With the "young" (he's only 3000 years old) and promising Line Backers "Ho-Tep"(Block) and Cho-lek" the BEANS got a good mixture oof experience and "fresh" grinding game play. Rounding things up with Star-Blitzer "Duke Kronken" (Guard) and his excellence "Lord Rockweiss", Coach Joemanj got a tough team to beat.

PLATE OF SAND - With 13 players in the Line-Up they got a small advantage in numbers: 2 Mummies - 2 Wights - 4 Ghouls - 3 Zombies - 2 Skeletons.
With Team-Captain and all time fan-favourite Mummy "Amen-Hek II." (Leader), the team relays on good blocking and a solid grinding play. Their working horse in Offense are their ghoul quartet "Ra-Ul" - Sure Hands, "Ca-Cau" - Block, "Ro-Nal-do" - Block and rookie "Schwai-nstai-ga". With their two leagur leading Wights "Venom Vernon" and "Vile Lyle" (both Guard) their Offense potential is devastating.

SPIKE Magazine Rating:
PLATE OF SAND - 8/9
BOOGIE BEANS - 7/9

+++ SUMMARY +++
Both teams had worked hard and played well, to get this far. For our bookies the PLATE OF SAND is clearly in leading position with their Offense and Line-Up. But let us see, how good the fabulous defense bulwork of the BEANS keeps them in the game. Who will be the one, that lifts the Cup and becomes Dungeon Bowl Champion 2511? We will let you know after a short commercial break...

Micha: Welcome back and we will fill in the remaining minutes with a quick recap of the Dungeon Bowl rules. First of all, one Touchdown wins the game! And in this case, it means it. The ball itself is hidden in one out of six wooden chests, strewn all over the catacombs. You can imagine, that the other five ones, contain nasty surprises - iit is Blood Bowl after all...

Holger: To get there in time the magicians of the Guild of uhm, Magic, installed six teleporter pads. They take you whereever they want... Beam me up!

Micha: Ok - the PLATE OF SAND (POS) has won the Coin Toss and is setting up:
Ghouls - "Ra-Ul", "Ca-Cau" and "Ro-Nal-do", their Wights "Venom Vernon" and "Vile Lyle", as Skeleton "Tom"

BOOGIE BEANS (BOB)
Ghouls "Slobb", "Dobb" and "Gob", Mummy "Ho-Tep", Wight "Duke Kronken" and Skeleton "Jamiroquai"

With a blinding flash Mummy "Amen-Hek II" (POS) teleported into the action and his teammates, inspired by his leadership (and his threats), are moving towards the chests in their side of the catacombs.

Holger: The BB bring in their Mummy "Cho-lek" and their Offense is moving in to the Teleporter Pads.

"Amen-Hek II" leads on the charge (or maybe he tried to). Bringing their Skeleton "Max" in, the POS opens up the first chest... a dull explosion, fills the air, as it becomes clear, that the ball is not hidden there.

Micha: There comes "Vile Lyle" in and he is in good position - to get not harmed by the following explosion, as "Bill" opens up another chest and falls over, his head coming loose and rolling around.

That is another Turnover by an explosion. Good that these chests are jamming metal detectors, so that we have all the fun to watch them exploding!

Holger: Rookie Ghoul "Schwai-nstai-ga" moves into the action and he is jumping through the ether, like a slann through a bunch of one-armed Goblins... There is a Blitz! and Wight "Venom Vernon" stumbles, but didn't fall over, while the POS is going to attack, another Block against "Ho-Tep" which smashed the Mummy to the ground, but had no effect.

Micha: With Skeleton "Smelly Nelly" coming in, the BEANS are going to attack back - with an impressing Blitz! Mummy "Ho-Tep" brings his fallen body up and pushes Ghoul "Ra-Ul". Wight "Vile Lyle" opens up the third chest in the confusion and there is a... Ball!

Holger: Ghoul "Gob" moves in the protected zone and grabs the leather.

Micha: The BB have the Initiative, but the POS are re-forcing to get it in their claws! Ghoul "Ca-Cau" uses the Teleporter and Blitzes "Gob", after a short head-knock, both players stay on their feed.

Holger: "Slobb" teleports, while Mummy "Cho-lek" blocks his pursuers and sends one crashing down, but without leaving any scratch, or mark. Those bandages should get a iron reinforcement... Moving into a cage, the POS is attacking again, "Ra-Ul" is knocking "Venom Vernon" down, but not out, and the rest in forming a wall around them.

Micha: With an playbook exercised Blitz! Ghoul "Dobb" only managed to push Ghoul "Schwai-nstai-ga", while the cage and the ball carrier "Gob" moves slowly further down towards the POS endzone.

Holger: Ghoul "Ca-Cau" uses the Teleporter to get into a better position. The blocking attacks are now showing some success, as the cage around "Gob" weakens.

Micha: This is a very cruicial moment for both teams; the BB is still having the Initiative, but the POS is gaining some momentum and the BB are redoublling their efforts, to win this game! A perfect timed Blitz! and Block combination opens up the surrounding defense of the POS and "Gob" is running through. He is barely a few yards now from the endzone and his Guard, "Cho-lek" is determined to protect his mate.

Holger: It is time for some desperate actions: "Ca-Cau" comes up through the Teleporter right on "Gob's" Side and Blitzes him! After a short moment, it seems like "Gob" mind has been refusing the information from his body, to go down, the Ghoul stumbled and the ball becomes free.

Now that there are all Players in the Dungeon on both sides, you can witness as an exspectator, that there is a desprate fighting all over the Dungeon is going on.

Micha: And the POS will take the opportunity and grabs for the ball... misses and that's the chance again for the BB. With the ball itself surrounded by more POS Players, the only possibility for them seems to get the ball free, by pushing, or smashing someone on it... And here it comes - Wight "Venom Vernon" falls down, the ball squeezes under him trough and becomes free. A dodge by "Gob" and with a second grab he got it. Knowing, that it would be suicid (if not already dead), Ghoul "Slobb" dived for the remaining chest in this area and the following explosion knocked the Defenders and himself hard to the ground.

Holger: What a move! The POS Players coming only slowly to their feet, a quick and ill timed Block, sending the attacker down.

Micha: And all this a few yards in front of the endzone - the BB Blitzes their ballcarrier free and he is moving in, taking two steps a time, just before...

Holger: A last attempt to stop him; using the Teleporter, flashing and coming up to Block trough the guarding Mummy, Ghoul "Ra-Ul" knocked his head and can only watch, as "Gob" is moving in to score the...
