Isle of Wight Festival/Blood Bowl Tournament

Post by bobafettsmum »

Hello peeps. This is a post to see how much interest there would be in playing a BB tournament on the Isle of Wight. I'm thinking about hosting one the weekend before the Isle of Wight Festival next year so that any of you that are festival goers could make a weeks holiday out of it. With a BB tourney the first weekend some sight seeing during the week and the festival at the end of the week it could be a great little holiday for some of you.

Who would like to come to the Island for a tourney? How many of you would like to tie it in with the festival?

What are your thoughts on this?

Some of those "views" are possibly bots, scanning websites but unable to post. So dont take the view count as gospel.

Anyways, the idea sounds good in principle. Are there any other tounies on the IOW? Are there any other tournies in the south UK on that same date?

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

I may be interested in a tournament on the island but not the festival.

The only issue I could see is if the prices on the island for accomodation etc skyrockets due to the festival.

There are no other tournaments held on the Isle of Wight at the moment and I doubt that there has ever been any NAF sanctioned ones here. Looking at the events calender it seems the only other tourney held around that time is in Scotland. Prices in June will no doubt be higher than off season times but I dont think that many people that come to the island for the festival come the weekend before.

Obviously if no one is bothered about combining the 2 events then I could always look at making it a different weekend. If there is enough interest of course.

I'd certainly do my best to attend.

I've met a number of you Caulkheads online in the WIBBL. Be good to meet up and have a few ales.

Do you know if there are any direct flights from California to IoW?

There aren't any flights to the Isle that time forgot your best bet would be fly to London Heathrow or Gatwick then train/ferry to the Island.

Would be interested but unfortunatly the 1stt 2 weeks of june is generally impossible for me

I'm guessing that ZootSuitJeff is joking but if he wasn't then Rodders answer is about right.
The date is certainly not set in stone as I am only really guaging the interest in a tourney here at the moment.

If you are interested in coming to the Island for a tourney could you also state what time of year would be best for you.

Thanks.

If you plan it, they will come.

Find a weekend that doesnt clash with other events and BB tournies. Try to match it up to cheap hotel weekends and you're on to a winner :)
