West Coast Grand Prix 2012 Official Rules & Standings

Post by ZootSuitJeff »

Official Standings can be found at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... UthTEY1QkE

To raise the level of competition and encourage travel between west coast North American Blood Bowl communities for tournaments, as well as to encourage additional tournaments to be held, we are continuing the competition in 2012 for the best overall coach in western north american tournaments. Any open, NAF sanctioned tournament in western North America will be included. These would include, but not limited to:

Seaside Slaughter (Pacifica, CA) Jan. 21st
Rat City Rumble (Everett, WA) Feb 25-26th
West Coast Quake, (Las Vegas, NV) March 17-18th
Rocky Mountain Rampage (Utah) May 5th
Aftershock (Los Angeles, CA) June
Spike! Magazine Cup (Vancouver, BC) Sept
Iron Mike's Tourney (Spokane, WA) Oct
Orcland Slaughter & Block Challenge (Oakland, CA) Fall
Nuffle's Fault (Los Angeles, CA) Nov 12th
Avatar Open (Las Vegas, NV) Dec

The rules will be slightly different this year. I'm trying incentivize and encourage participation and travel between regions for tournament play, while still making it overall a competition for the most dominant coach.

Points will be give for the following:

Part A:1 point for attending a 1 day event
2 points for a 2 day event

Part B: I'm subdividing the west coast into 5 regions based on the current approximate distribution of tournaments. You can get one point for each subregion that you play a tournament in, but you can only get this extra point once. For 2012 the 5 regions are:
Northern California
Southern California
Oregon & Washington
British Columbia
Alberta, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and other points east (over to Colorado, New Mexico, Saskatchewan)

Part C: Additional points will be given for final standings in a tourney, determined by the tournament. A tourney will need a minimum of 12 coaches to get these points, otherwise they will be proportionally reduced.
1st place: 6 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 4 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place: 2 points
6th place: 1 point

Part D: A Tournament Organizer will get points for Parts A & B and the greater of either Part C or 1 point, even if they don't play any games.

For example:
Shawn plays (gets 10th place) in Spike (BC)
Shawn plays (gets 10th place) in Aftershock (LA)
Shawn wins (1st place, 10 players) Nuffle's Fault (LA)
Shawn organizes (doesn't play) OSBC (Oakland)
Shawn would get:
2+1+0 points for Spike
1+1+0 points for Aftershock
1+0+5 points for Nuffle's Fault
1+1+1 points for OSBC

For a total of 14 points.

Tiebreakers will be determined in this order:
1) Total games won
2) Total games drawn
3) Total regions played
4) Total tournaments played
5) Head to head matchups
6) Mud wrestling, best of 3 pins

Prizes:
Everyone will get a collectible WCGP sticker for each tourney you attend. You can put it on your helmet or team case.
Trophies/medals will be given out to the top 3-6 players.

Additional prizes:
At the end of the year I will hold a raffle for additional prizes to be given away. Each coach will have tickets in the drawing equal to the number of participation points they've earned, parts A & B only. The grand prize for this will be a full painted legacy team, but I would like lots of additional swag from the different tournaments to be given out. These prizes can either be shipped at winner's cost, or handed out at a future tourney the following year.
