For those in London... OgBowl! 12/05/12

Post by Haribo »

Hi guys.

We're looking to run a little 1 day tournament in south London. It's part of Og Games' club.

Plan is if the 1st one works to have semi regular tournaments, once every couple of months.

1st is 12th of may, at the spread eagle in Wandsworth.

For more details check out oggames.co.uk go to the forum and the blood bowl area is under specialist games.

Sounds good. Do you have a maximum capacity? Are you submitting for NAF ranking?

Here's a direct link to their thread for anyone interested.

FYI if you have any particular BB nuts at your club there is a large league in London called the ECBBL. Several great coaches (including half of the current England team) and many other good guys. They meet on Great Portland Street. They are holding their own annual two day tournament two weeks prior to this on the 28th and 29th of April.

Btw, this should be in Upcoming Tournaments: Britain.

Thanks, wrote that message this am after a rather busy night shift, had completely missed the upcoming Britain section!
(moved it for you - Admin)

Unfortunately most of us are fantasy players too and the week of your event is the week of the south coast gt, which is one of the biggest fantasy tournaments we have.

We have potentially enough space to fit 24 coaches in, however 1st one is going to be quite a bit smaller! Partly so we can change things that dont work and also because the thought of running a 20+ player event off the bat is a bit scary!

Hopefully we can work up to something like that though.

1st few are probably not going to be NAF submitted for similar reasons, but once we get the hang of it hopefully we can get them submitted to the NAF.

Oh, and we play above a bar, so booze is at hand, does however mean 18+ only.

Hey guys,

so have some details for how we're going to run the skills etc up on our forum, will copy them over to here....

So, after a bit of thought here's the plan for team selection and skills etc.

1100 gp TV. 2 normal skills for free selected on list submission.
each skill must be given to a different player.

Goblins can 'roster' 2 bribes, halflings can 'roster' a master chef, other than that no inducements.

Ressurection tournament so all your guys come back to life/your whole team resets. No need to roll fan factor increases as it'll go back to what ever it was before the game you've just played.

Skills during the tournament will be done like american football draft.
There'll only be 1 opportunity for an extra skill, after game 1.
So each team will have had 3 'skill' selections, 2 at the start, 1 from the draft.

The way this will work is, after game 1 there will be a pool of skills to select from.
Dependng on how many sign ups will depend how many are in the pot.
A random player number will be chosen by the organiser (ie, me)
You can then draft a skill up from the list to that player.
The coach at the bottom gets 1st pick, moving through the rankings until everyone has had 1 selection.

For example.
we have 4 coaches, a high elf, a goblin, a human and a orc.
after game 1 the ranking goes up and the human coach gets 1st pick.

I say that random player number 8 is going to get the skill.
The human player looks at his roster and sees his player number 8 is his thrower, so he looks at the skill draft.

4 coaches so we've put a draft of 6 skill ups.
+1 ag, block, dodge, sure hands, dump off and mighty blow.

the human coach picks the +1 ag on his thrower.
the goblin coach goes next, has his pogoer selected so takes dump off,
the orc coach takes block on a lineman and the elf coach takes dodge on a catcher.

Points wise it's going to be 6 for a win, 3 for a draw, 1 for a loss.

Plus a few extra little bonuses...

+1 if you score more than 2 (this is more than 2, so a 2-2 score draw would score each player 3)

+1 if you cause more than 2 dead or injured (see above)

If placings are still tied then we'll go 1st on td difference, then cas difference, followed by td scored, then cas caused and if it's still a draw then whoever's brave enough to go up and say a Johnny Bravo chat up line to whoever (...WHOEVER!) is working behind the bar!

so no limitations on the type of player that gets a particular skill? Looks a bit complex - good luck!

as in could be a doubles skill? no. no limitations.
won't include mutations as that would just complicate things, and everyone has access to things otherwise.

Although I'd normally be interested in this, can't make this weekend - also, requesting NAF sanctioning early would be a good idea as you're likely to get a larger crowd and it makes little difference to the organisation.

Indeed I'm in London too and could help out with what little would be required.

Surprised "resurrection tournaments are not blood bowl" to you though, seems a bit daft restricting yourself to one type of tourney and only one...

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

It is extremely likely that Lycos or Joemanji will turn up to your event (big man in the NAF and little man in the NAF, respectively).

If either of them are there (they will be) then say "we are want NAF sanction" and they will make things happen. Odds on.

Think getting it sanctioned on the day is a big no-no.

1st one, no. Lots of other bits to sort and looks like haven't got enough time to get it sanctioned now.
But if it goes well plan would be to have them semi regularly, in which case would get them sanctioned
