Waterbowl: Gobbos

Post by The Dazzler »

After long and careful consideration (sic) i've decided to get down & dirty go all Stunty on your ass!

I've played Gobbos in a league but never in a tourney.

So, 110GPS with Star Players, Wizards etc allowed.

Any tips/hints/musts on builds? I've tried so hard to squeeze Morg in there (sod any RR) but may have to settle for something more, ahem, sensible.

Looking forward to this [rubs hands]

A sensible ( ) set up.....
Fanatic
Looney
Pogo
2 Trolls
Fungus the Loon
8 Goblins
3 Bribes
2 Rerolls
will leave you 30k left over.
Two S7 B&Cs and two S5 Trolls on the line can do a lot of damage.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.
Bribe level: good coffee.

I like the way you are thinking!!

Is Ripper worth taking?

Doesn't get much better than that I'd say. Fungus is awesome value for money, him and the rostered ball and chain should be first on your shopping list. Ripper is the other Star who is immense for Goblins, just getting him in sacrifices RR or bribe money though.

Chainsaws are a bit 'meh'. Huge fun for one or two turns then almost always taken out after. I don't mind taking one but would never consider Nobbla. Also would never skill him.

Bombs are cool but ridiculously random and usually as much a hindrance as a help. I never bother with them. Even with the fabled double of Hail Mary Pass they are slightly more fun, but never brilliant and I always think Block on the Troll is ten times better use of that double.

Pogo is a definite. Lack of Secret Weapon and tat extra pip of move make him the best ball carrier you have. Skilling him is handy. Plus Agility perhaps?

If the rules allow it, take as many double skills as you can.

Bomber + Hail Mary Pass = fun. Will almost certainly not be much use, but will be fun (and will make people think twice before building big cages...)

Other than that, lunchmoney's roster looks sensible.

(BTWE: my tournament record with goblins is 0-0-6, so don't take my advice!! )

Thanks fellas!

I'll try to get in a couple of games next week with Evil Trev as a warm up. Failing that, I'll dust off my Gobbos on Cyanide LE

Trying hard to get Ripper in there. Best i can come up with is:

Ripper, 2 x Trolls, Fanatic, Looney, Pogo, 8 x Gobbos, 1 x RR and 1 x Bribe (for the Fanatic). Feasible?

Upgrades: 3 x skills, 1 x double and 1 x AG +1

Pogo: AG +1
Troll: Block (double)
Troll: Guard
Gobbo: Side-Step
Gobbo:Side-Step

Defo SS on the Gobbos over DT. I think i'll keep to Guard on the 2nd Troll too over PO.

Right! Now i just need to borrow a Ripper model :D

Evil Trev narrowly avoided a scalping yesterday when i failed a final turn Landing/TTM well within the Gobbo's movement range with an open field ahead ...

We both exchanged 8 turn scoring drives (i opted to Drive from the KO) & i think it was 5/4 in my favour on Casualties by the final whistle.

Much fun!

I'm going with this at WB:

Ripper, 2 x Trolls, Fanatic, Looney, Pogo, 8 x Gobbos, 1 x RR and 1 x Bribe. Only the one Bribe is a bit pants (remind me, why did i stall out for the full 8 turns ... "slaps forehead!!") Upgrades: 3 x skills, 1 x double and 1 x AG +1

Pogo: AG +1
Troll: Block (double)
Troll: Guard
Gobbo: Side-Step
Gobbo:Sprint [saved for that cheeky OTTD], or Catch or S-S or ....

I should have listened!!

I x RR/1 x Bribe [plus Ripper] does not make it easy. It was good fun though.
