How to handle bye rounds using SCORE

Post by celticgriffon »

Hi everyone,

I am running a mini test tournament this weekend for local bragging rights.

I downloaded SCORE from the NAF website and have been playing around with it.

How do you set things up to ensure a player never receives more than one bye round?

I am expecting a small turnout (6 - 10 players max) and the possibility for an uneven player pool worries me.

Also, we are only running three rounds total so I do not want bye rounds to affect tournament scores at all. I need to keep the data clean.

Cheers,
Michael

It has never come up; everyone makes sure there is a spare player to stop there being an uneven number.

I'm interested of Score can handle it as well.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

There are two ways I can think off.

1. Add a non-player coach (call it whatever), give them a loss or draw in round 1 and Score will never draw it against the same coach.

2. Decide who has the bye before doing the round 1 draw, set them to not active ("No" on the team page) do the draw. Before round 2 decide who has the bye and repeat etc etc.

Neither are ideal, and what Lunchmoney said above is better.

Thank you both. These suggestions will definitely let us manipulate things as we need. if we dont have an even number i will play, otherwise moderate.
