Would it get NAF Ranking?

Was thinking about a tourney being run for NAF trophy winners and tournament organisers only, and suspect it would not get NAF ranking status. But could it? In theory it would be open to all as anyone can win a tourney and anyone could host a tourney.

Wouldn't get sanctioning as one of the core components is to be open to all, regardless of status.

Nice idea though. I could be in as I have a NAF Trophy and I'm a TO :)

Something you are looking to do?

Though I am happy for Gaxio to correct me, as I'm sure he will if I'm wrong :)

To be honest though, EuroBowl is NAF sanctioned and it's not exactly open (depending on how your country elects it's team). It's kind of like having to play good, ie winning a trophy to get in to the team and hence the tournament.
Sure, a tournament is run in parallel called the EurOpen, but it's a different tournament.

Thinking i should probably run a tourney at some point and wanted an theme to it. Figured nobody would come if it wasnt NAF ranked.

Could you incorporate the theme and keep it open to all e.g. provide some sort of additional award or bonus for individuals in a certain category (rather than excluding people who do not belong to the category)? That way I suspect it could be NAF ranked.

Open to ideas on that Pipey, but my little brain cant think of anything that would not be exclusive and still keep the original theme intact.

But it doesnt really matter. Any obstacles help with the real underlying theme of me being a lazy git who'll never run a tourney anyway :P

Simliar to the EB perhaps, champions section and a open to all section at the same torni?

You group the champions on day one and have the rest of the field play random then swiss as normal. On day two bring everyone into swiss.

'Champions League' Style...

Day 1 - 'Open' Entrants play 3 games for entrance to 'Knock-out' in Day 2
Day 1 - 'Champions' (invitees?) play 3 'seeding' games for Day 2.

Day 2 - 'Seeded' Champions get matched against the Top 8/16 (or whatever#) from Open Qualifiers then Swiss to decide Winner
Day 2 - Remaining Open entrants play Swiss amongst themselves for 'best of the rest'.

Would that qualify as sufficiently open but retain your ethos Itchen?

Pretty much what I was trying to say, but much better and clearer, cheers Loki :)

If we're allowed to seed/separate players in that manner then it sounds like a decent compromise :)
