Winner rosters

Post by dreamscreator »

I was thinking the possibility to have a list of winner rosters as a info for new (and old) players. One of the things that I missed when I started to play is see the roster of people who won a tournament.

So, the idea, if you have finished 1st or 2nd in a tournament o you won Stunty Cup. Post your roster, TV, name coach, the name of the tournament and the link to the TFF (if it exists). I will updated the first post with the new teams.

Are you sure this isn't just to show off your collection of silver medals? ;)

Seems a good idea. I know other systems (Netrunner for example) encourage publishing winning lists.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

It's a thing I missed when I started to play tournaments. Could be curious and useful.

Really good idea. Wish there was a way to have rosters being submitted before tournaments and then posted afterwards as a standard procedure of tournament organisation.

Fancy an actual one-dayer? Check out The Coffee Cup.

Looking at attending your first tournament? Have a read of this.

....actually the Wood Elf roster has some variants, and it would be interesting to see the winning choices.

I have a box file with a copy of more or less every roster I have ever taken to a tournament - sadly, other than some Stunty success, nothing worth sharing.

Reason: ''
Winner - Caerdydd Cup (2019)
Most TD - Exiles (20)(2015), Exebowl (10)(2017)
Stunty Cup - Welsh Open (2016,2019), Exiles (2016), CakeBowl (2019), GertBowl (2019)

SWTC Stunty Champion 2016, 2019
Most Casualties - Elflympics (27(net 25))(2017)

If we're going with second place rosters in the "Winner rosters" thread, this Undead setup came in second place at Ghostbowl 20:
(Ghostbowl rules let you take three normal skills on three players on the first day, two more normal skills and a double on three more players the second day).

Mummy (Day 1: Guard)
Mummy (Day 2: Block)
Wight (Day 1: Guard)
Wight
Ghoul (Day 1: Block)
Ghoul (Day 2: Wrestle)
Ghoul (Day 2: Block)
4x Zombies
2x Skeleton
3x Rerolls
2x Fan Factor

In fairness to everyone else at Ghostbowl, that silver medal had a lot more to do with luck than with any brilliant roster design or overwhelming Blood Bowl skill on my part.
My advice:
- Cause a bunch of casualties early in the game, it really helps.
- Let the kick scatter right to the edge of the board, so that when your opponent fails to pick it up, they burn a reroll and punt it into the crowd anyway.
- Force Wood Elves to roll snake eyes a lot, they really hate that. Surprised more people don't try this.
- Just knock down Dwarves whenever you can. Did you know they can't use Guard on the ground? They don't really break but they can't do much just standing up.
- And, if you only have one turn to score, roll a Riot! Makes things so much easier.

If you don't take this helpful advice, above is more like a 10th place roster.

To be honest, at least in the Southwest UK is long time ago I don't see a Wood Elf team winning a tournament.

I think people looks bad to coaches that play with W.Elf, even more than people that play with dwarf

The problem is that you're going to get so many minor variations, because there are so many different tournament set ups. Even something simple like skills up front Vs skill per game will give variations. You'd need to list TV and skill set.

Not saying it's a bad idea, but it might be something more suited to a website rather than a forum.

That's one of the reasons that I want to put the link to TFF of the tournament. To have the possibility to check the skills packs and the rules.

For now, there are quite different rosters. And a few similars ones. But it is good info for newbie and for older to analize.
