Albion Coast Cup in Southampton has been progression every year (at least every year since Blocknroll took over).
Talk to Blocknroll. I'm sure he'll be able to talk you through what he does with it.

We've had two progression editions of the BUBBLE tournament. One where the team development was not shocking and one where it was. In the second situation we saw a powergamer achieving two strength 4 amazons while a teenage coach suffered two dead saurii in game one (followed by another later in the tournament).

The Lizard coach took his bad luck very well and I think he still enjoyewd himself. It did show clearly that this set up is not for everyone. I know several coaches who would not have enjoyed themselves in that situation.

I myself enjoyed both tournaments very much, but I like the fluff, mayhem and randomness more than others.

Boring hat on (?)

I have wondered whether some kind of "controlled progression" tournament structure could be used, so the chances of runaway ultra development (or a horror string of injuries, kills) wouldn't unbalance the tournament too much.

Guess if you run progression straight out of the box there's a fair chance the situation Mepmuff describes could happen.

How this looks I have no idea... A while ago I gave it some though as a possible new iteration of the Monkeybowl rules but never came up with anything that worked.

I know one year at the Albion a Ogre coach (already a glutton for punishment!) lost 3 Ogres in game 1 (at least one was dead) and iirc went into game two with just 2 ogres and 9 Snots - I don't think it ended well.

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed my St4 Sure-handed Orc Blitzer. ;)

Come to the Keffo Kupp in Bardufoss in the north of Norway :) They run a progression/resurrection tournament which works well. Its effectively progression except none of the injuries are permanent. Also uses a mixture of the CRP and BB2016 for allocating MVP's.

Zulu, can you point me in the direction of their rulepack?

Pipey, do you still have any of your musings I could take a look at?

KeffoKup 2017 Rules pack: http://www.anarchy.bloodbowlleague.com/ ... cp&cpid=24

Zulu won in 2018. A halfling team came in second, with their only loss against Zulu's chaos dwarfs.

Don't have anything concrete for you Gav, just some vague ideas. Drop me a line if you think I can be any help to talk it through. Keffo Kupp stuff looks like your best bet for reference.
