Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
Apart of changing (Chaos-)Dwarf in having less Tackle which directly effects the Amazone performance I would prefer following Cockerel:
0-16 Linewomen 50k 6/3/3/7 Dodge G
0-2 Catchers 60k 8/2/3/7 Dodge, Diving Catch GA
0-2 Throwers 70k 6/3/3/7 Dodge, Pass GP
0-4 Blitzers 80k 7/3/3/7 Dodge, Block
RR: 60k
cheaper and speed bump to help the post-mid TV game. I raised the RR costs to decrease the effect on starting roosters as at that point they're already pretty strong.

Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
But you've also decreased the cost of the blitzers by 10k and given them a speed increase. The above team would make 'Zons much, much better, taking away one of their weaknesses, mediocre speed.0-16 Linewomen 50k 6/3/3/7 Dodge G
0-2 Catchers 60k 8/2/3/7 Dodge, Diving Catch GA

The Amazonian roster off MBBL was good. Iirc:
0-16 Linewomen 6337 Fend GA/SP 50k
0-2 Runner 7337 Dodge, Sure Hands GAP/S 90k
0-2 Catchers 7337 Dodge Catch GA/S 90k
0-4 Blitzers 6337 Block, Dodge GAS/PA 90k
50k rerolls
Took away a fair bit of dodge from the starting roster, made blodge linos after 1 skill roll impossible and gave the team better long term prospects.

Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
A while ago I came up with
0-16 Linewoman 50k 6337 Fend AG-PS
0-4 Catcher 70k 8237 Diving Catch, Dodge AG-PS
0-2 Thrower 70k 6337 Hail Mary Pass, Pass, Safe Throw AGP-S
0-4 Blitzer 90k 7338 Wrestle AGS-P
The thrower I'm not 100% happy with, but I like making them much more of a mobile AG3 passing team

Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
Posted this earlier elsewhere.
0-16 Linewomen 50k 6337 Dodge G-APS
0-2 Hunter 80k 7337 Dodge, Strip Ball GA-PS
0-2 Handler 70k 6337 Dodge, Safe Hands GP-AS
0-4 Blitzer 90k 6337 Block, Dodge GS-AP
In the current setup I'd play with no catchers or passers and instead just take sure hands on a linewoman to make a carrier early on. Passers are pretty much a total waste of space at the minute - give me the above and I'll be a happy man.
Envisage skill ups the same for lino (wrestle or block) and blitzer (guard or pile on/mighty blow). Hunters to go down the dirty player/sneaky git route (or side step/tackle/diving tackle), handler down the dump off/block/fend route to protect the ball under pressure. I like the idea that the agility players would be the main pillars of your defence rather than being automatically the most advanced players. I'd also like 4 of them, but I think that might be overkill at this price.
Starting roster, then:
5 Linewomen 200k
4 Blitzers 360k
2 Hunters 160k
1 Handler 70k
1 Apoth 50k
2 rerolls 100k
10k saved up for purchases
First purchase, another linewoman or, if cash allows, a second handler. There are only two rerolls as the blodge and dodge, plus sure hands, would hopefully mean not required as much. It's picking the ball up at the mo where I really need to use my rerolls early on. I'd save up for another reroll or two pretty quickly though.
That gives usShteve0 wrote:Amazons fixed/ruined like the Norse were. Pass on the passer and catch on the catcher are pointless. Call the passer a handler, remove pass and give sure hands. Add 10k, I don't care. Call the catcher a hunter, remove catch and give them strip ball. Add 10k and a point of movement. Done.

Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
If we're looking at the blodge access as an issue, I say just move block to strength category. Done. I quite like the amazons, just not (a) the miniatures and (b) the dodge spam.
Another thought; how's this change?

Yes.
It was effectively playtested thanks to a typo in a German translation of an earlier edition. Chaos and Dwarfs became the only viable races.

Re: Changes you would make to the amazons
GAS on the blitzers?
Or should that be GS?
GAS, main difference would be side-step instead of stand-firm, maybe a couple of DTers too, but it is Strength skills the blitzers really need (guard!). The possible POMBer would get jump up too I suppose.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Especially now when there's "Wrestle" avalible in General category Block could be moved to Strength.Shteve0 wrote:Yeah, I know . It irritates me that agile teams can have both greatest skills and bashy only half of it.
