or maybe a variation on that and have group stages like the football world cup. With those who do not make the next round joining the rest of us.

I think he is on his own topic.

Also didn't Doubleskulls Gobbos finish 2nd or 3rd at Carnage 3?

Teams event

Option 3 has the advantage of being totally different from the inidividual Blood Bowl and quite different from Eurobowl with the possibility of maximum participation from countries with more than 8 coaches. :D

Well in my opinion there is no idea in having a World Cup if it doesn´t follow the lines from Eurobowl.
Since it REPLACES that tourney

It is first and foremost a WORLDCUP that means 1 team from each country.

8 players for each team is a fair distibution and honestly several countries have a hard time getting down to that.

Knock outs are plain gross to play as that means there is only pure luck in who you draw and a single bad match to decide where you end.
Btw Eurobowl doesn´t, for god knows why, use swiss draw.

Finally even if i will not get a place on the Danish team I will attend at the side tourney.
I really don´t see the problem, just as I couldn´t care less about the flames from different ppl directed at eurobowl from different places.

If you want to go there is plenty of room to attend fx as a freebooter, that is a good way to show that you want to join your team...........
Oviously the teamspirit of 8 games played side by side will be completely destroyed if it´s decided who will play at the tourney - or some of the other possibilities that has been mentioned.

The coolest thing about this kind of event is that you depend on the results from not only you but also from other guys in your team, that you stay in touch with because of this event.

Oh and England is far from the strongest BB team in the world...

Finally if it´s not allowed to drink at the tourney maybe the Danes have a chance at winning ;)

May NUFFLE caress you in your dreanms - and spit on you in real life....
As he does with me ;)

I think that is the best way to have an open tournament for national teams.

So everyone could have his fun, having a trip with his friends and meeting players from all the world, and if someone isn't able to find a team to play in, could play in a mixed team ecc...

Thx Mordredd for the poll!

I agree! Let it open! ;)
Otherwise it will be an Eurobowl with american-australian teams

Yep, me too! I'd love to be part of the official team but as I'm pretty certain all of this years team will be eager to represent again in 2008 I'd be more than happy to play in the 'Best of the Rest' event (and hopefully in a couple of specialist versions like streetball etc though I'm not too sure on how that would work? Maybe day one is the whole 'getting to know guys / odd specialist gaming' and then day two/three reverting to a more conventional tournament weekend? Dunno...)

Hmm, well normally I wouldn't advocate alcohol in such an event but I suppose it would be ok as it is only once every four years... :P

I would love to see option 4 working, but I dont think it would fit. I allready see discussions: "What you want to go there? Oh no this will decrease our average points   "

So I voted for option 1. This one will create the less bad blood. And the nation is represented by a team, thats knows each other before the tourney (can train, organize shirts, etc...).

I voted 2, keep it open to everyone.
Version 4 is the worst IMO, small nations will always get shafted in this system and it doesn't really add much to a simple individual event like the Blood Bowl.

In my oppinion the big nations will suffer from version 4, not the small ones. Because from at the big ones you allways have coaches travelling arround playing not sooo competiv. But this is no statement that is true for all. I think its very dependent on the country.
