How do you make team and individual equal?

If this is the way to go, how do make a team event and an individual event have the same value / prestige?

If there is going to be an Individual World Championship then it needs to be decided over at least 8 rounds (9 would be better). With the number of coaches that might enter, any less than 8 rounds will mean that some coaches other than the winner have not had a loss, although they may have tied a game. The World Championship, and preferably 2nd and 3rd should be clear, not decided on countback by TDs, Cas or any other method.

For the benefit of the hundreds of others involved it would also be better if, for example, I could say that I shared 175th-180th position rather than the rather vague 140th-232nd position, due to lack of games to sort us out.

The requirement for enough games limits the way it can be combined with a team event. If the top players are in teams and not in the individual event then the Individual Championship is clearly a 2nd rate event.

(a) We could have a big individual event with coaches scoring points for their team by their placing in the individual event.
or
(b) We run a teams event with results from the teams event counting towards the individual event. This requires 3 or 4 final rounds to sort out the eventual winners of the individual event because some coaches will have faced much weaker teams than others. This could be done with everyone in teams or with some playing only individual games during the team event. The final 2 to 4 individual rounds could be limited to those with no more than 2 losses so far, so the others all try the other events on the last day.

If we use (a) then the individual event will be seen as the main event, regardless of attempts to score team points, whereas (b) keeps teams together for most of the time and gives the team event at least as much prestige as the individual event.
