Hi Guys,

this post won't be for all of you :)
But my flings have been waiting for the opportunity to play in the World Cup... and some people have been messaging and sending emails for over a year.

There are 4 sort of people in Blood Bowl... the ones that play to win the tournament, the ones that play to win, the ones that try not to loose, the ones that don't care and just pick stupid skills and try to butcher your team. We are fairly going to talk about the last 2 types of players. (Sorry for the people out there with the "whole Zombie Team" or "Just go Skeleton"... but I'm not even going to try to spot those out)

So today I spotted all the lists that were put online... and I made a little break down of all the Real Stunty Players out there.

There is however one problem... I've not checked out the Lizardmen and Underworld players. It would take me to much time to spot the Stunty players in those (there are 73 Lizardmen teams enlisted :o !!!).

What I personally consider to be a stunty race (and there is a lot of discussion about this):

- Goblins (no discussion)
- Halflings (no discussion)
- Lizardmen (only skinks + 1 Kroxigor + Starplayers , not really a discussion)
- Ogres (No more then 4 Ogres + Starplayers in the spirit of the old Snotling Team with 4 trolls, Some Discussion)
- Underworld (Troll + Goblins + Starplayers , a lot of discussion... but face it, the moment you have 7 movement, 3 strength, agility 3 guy that can run with the ball and give general skills too, doesn't have loner, you are not in stunty range anymore... Skavens are not stunty!!! get over it!!!!)

Annyway... finding the Goblins, Ogres and Halflings were fairly easy.
Finding the Underworld guys + Lizardmen were not... so if you are one of them... let me know.

So here are the people, that I spotted, that are playing for the "Higest Ranked Stunty" in the World Cup 2015. (according to the criteria described above)

Breakdown - Countries:

Image

Congrats to the brave guy from the U.S.A. "Profgoldfinch"... The only person that came from outside of Europe to try out his Snotlings and Ogres!!!

The Coaches and their experience with their team (W/D/L - record + Total games included)
Also the specifics of their Roster (without skills)

Goblins

Image

Favourite Starplayers:
4x Fungus the Loon
1x Bomber Dribblesnot
1x Scrappa Sorehead
1x Ripper Bolgrot
1x Nobbla Blackwart

Our goblin-coaches are already filling their bombs with good old black powder... and sharpening their Chainsaws. Just for you. With 9 players, they are the best represented Stunty Race... and probably one of the better races to compete for a high place. Lurch (U.K.) who is not bringing his Gobo's coached them to a very high place this year in the "Dungeonbowl". A good experienced Goblin Coach should be able to do some damadge and creep up the ladder.

Fungus the Loon will be twirling and bashing over time... And every Gobo team is armed with at least one Chainsaw! Yeehaw!

For those Coaches that like to build cages :oD ... beware!!!! There are Hail Marry Bombers among the green skins that can destroy your best cages of the dice just work in their favoure.

Halflings

Image

Favourite Starplayers:
6x Deeproot Strongbranch
3x Puggy Baconbreath
1x Morg 'n' Torg
1x Zarra the Slayer

Here they are 8) My personal favourites. The Underdoggs of the underdoggs... fire up the kitchen... Cause here come the Flings.
Only 1 coach sort to have an equal amount of coaches with the Goblins. These guys are far worst then the Gobo's, but they fly better. They also crash and die... but who cares? They cost 30K and they can break anny players neck of they crashland on the right square.

The 3 most experienced players all choice to play without rerolls (and a mastercheff). They sacrificied the hard cash for "Puggy B." 8) 8) 8) (my man!!!) and the ultimate Tree!!!

Because of the cheapness of all the Flings... Stelacero squeezed in Morg 'n' Torg. No world cup with one of the best Star Players ever printed. All teams bought a Master Cheff... I hope for all you guys, he does some really good cooking!!! Make other people cry!!!

Ogres

Let's do the Stunty Guys first :D

Image

Here they are... all buffed up.
Their snotlings are ready to do their big guys bidding. And the Ogres can be an incredible force as long as they can keep their head on the game. Sacrificing Ogres for Reroll makes them competetive enough to perform well if you are a good Coach. Just ask Strider84 from Switzerland, who rumbles and bashes his Ogres all the way to to the top.

If you want me to bet on anny race that is able to win the "best stunty"... my money would be on the Ogres. But we'll see... The Gobos and Flings may amaze and suprise people too. Depending on Match Ups / Dice / People with experience. ... It will be a tough competition.

Starplayers:

2x Brick Farth and Grotty (They got hired only once in another ogre team)

And now... A little word on the Killers. The once that play with stunties and dumb-asses... but really don't care. The lather. The freaks... the assassins... The once that want to make you cry as your guys leave the field. The "Killer Rosters".
Ogres with 5+ Piling on.

Image

These are the guys and girl that most probably just there to get the most casualty award.
Worst of them... Draco the angry old man from the low countries (yeah... he took Mighty Blow on a Snotling... cause it's a good tactic. Cause Draco has a book as big as the British Encyclopedia full of good Tactics. Good Tactics that are sooooo Good, that they only work for 1 person... Draco)... and Artica, an angry Italian girl that borowed a pair of High Heels to 2 of her snotlings!

Or will Bosk kick the hell out of everyone again? Last time he went home with his hands and face bathered in Blood. He killed the most players last time... and he's here to defend his title. It's going to be tense. If the dice grow sour though... there is always a chance of an Undead, Dwarf, ... player going home with the most kills! ... But I honestly won't bet on them when these players are Piling On up on players.

Ogres - The Real Tacticians

Image

These guys are here to try and coach their Ogres to victory. They are not stunty, and their team is actually build to make some touchdowns without removing the opponents' team from the pitch. They think about their moves... and then cry when their ogres go "dumb d' dumb dum dumb"

"Kaegten?" are you sick buddy? No Dirty Players? ... what's going on?

What also caught my eye.... is that there is an Aussie and an New-Zeelander fighting in this group... I guess it's a "down under" thing! :D :D :D

Good luck to all of you :D :D :D :D
May the best stunty coach win :D :D :D :D And catch the glory that you can only catch once every 4 years!!!!!!

And Kill those players little ogres ... kill them all... Just leave my flings alone! :smoking:

Just like to add my best wishes to all stunty coaches. Brave, foolhardy, crazy - but fun to play. :D

Smoke me a kipper  (or save me a cookie)

No way Gobbos are going to do better than Flings with these rules. There may be an exception to the rule but on average Halflings are more reliable in tournament surroundings.

Wow. Firstly what an incredible post!

31 stunty (including all ogres) teams out of 912, and some of them even look to be taking it seriously(ish)! It also feels like a nice straight shoot out between Draco, Artica, bosk, Kuei-Jin, and necromunda for most casualties. Would be awesome to have a cas tracker game by game to see how these guys are faring! My last 2 tournaments I have gone up against artillery goblins (bomber + hail mary) and it makes things scary!

Why is that?

... Goblins also give away some of their stability for some chaotic carnage that has the possibility to massively change the game. A good bomb here and there... will help a lot. The auto-included Chainsaw (if wielded correctly) can solve one of the biggest problems that Stunties have... getting down a Block/Dodge ball carrier.

Amazons - Start with 4
Dark Elves - Ussually take at least 1 to 2 Block / Dodge combinations day 1... and it will only get worst later on
Pro Elves - Ussually skill up 1 blitzer... and give some dodge to others
High-Elf - Ussually skill up 1 blitzer day 1
Humans - Sometimes skill up 1 catcher day 1
Necromantic - With day 1 having access to so manny skills... there is a good chance you'll be facing 2x Blodge Ghouls
Norse Team - Maybe (just maybe) 1 runner day 1... but some guys tend to skill him up later in the tournament (if they bring one)
Undead - Sometimes skill up 1 Ghoul day 1
Wood Elves - Start with 2 blodgers

So chances of already facing blodgers day 1 ... Amazons, Dark Elves, Necromantic, Undead, Wood Elves... 5 of some of the most prefered teams. Halflings have a huge problem with Blodge... since taking "wrestle" is a double skill... and it's not that there are so manny skills to be given to keep up with everybody. If the goblins can make a gap... the chainsaw can step in, and try to do it's thing. You break armour (kickback included) 7 like 60,19% of the time, and armour 8: 48,61% of the time. Include a reroll for the kickback... and they are both more then 50%. Getting down and reaching for the ball. Most Fling coaches are just happy if they get a 2d against ... lol, and they are really happy if they have the opportunity to get the 1D (if the other guy runs out of guys OR positions badly). That's 2,78% on the 2D against and 16,67% on the 1D POW.

Tier 2, already starts with 4 normal skills + 1 double... So that doesnt make the little ones that much better in comparisson to them. When it comes to Tier 1 teams, they are ahead 1 skill and 1 double (huray).
On day 2 everyone gets the same skill choices... so that doesnt make the Stunties better... in most cases (because a double means a much wanted "general skill" because of the "only agility acces / strenth acces") it's even worst. In the last day... The stunties are going to have a really really bad day. Since they become worst the more skills the opponent has. Side Step / Sure feet or even a Blodge Halfling/Goblin doesnt really make up for all the Mighty Blow / Guard / Tackle / Wrestle / Blodge that wil be running around that day.

Next to that... people will be picking up Block... Block is just muder for both teams... but that brings us to the next point:
Goblins are just the better player (when it comes to it). If they actually go down you have a chance of 41,67% of breaking armour 7. While the Halfling will break 58,33% of the times. Tripping over your feet, making a failed dodge roll, just getting bugged by Block/Pows... the fact that gobos have 1 armour more... makes them more forgiving then the Flings. I also believe this equals out the "stability factor" a bit... since flings really are not stable. Sometimes you just loose because people break to much armour early... sometimes you just stay in the game since they are not able to break the armour... but that last part happens far less the the games where they just die quick.

Of course you can start a conversation about the Treeman against the Troll... yes they lost "loner"... lol... but the troll can go stupid... and the chances of throwing a gobo with the troll is less then treeman (I all agree). But once the Treeman faces of his 1 on the take root... that's it. You are literally stuck, while the troll in the folowing turns will be getting up (don't even talk about "getting up" when the tree goes down) and doing his thing. It's annoying, but I believe it would be more annoying if they lost all movement. I'm not sure... But I don't think anny Gobo coach will choose "Take Root" on their trolls over "really stupid" (even if they loose loner in the process).

Goblins also beat flings when it comes to movement... the only way to really keep up is to throw flings that are left behind... back into defence. A risky business for sure. The other thing you can do is give them side step... so the advance of the other party is stopped by failed blitzes and blocks (go go pushback results).

The starplayers ussually make the team better against "blocking" teams... Sometimes Ripper / Fungus the Loon / Deeproot can do enough damadge that horde of little guys can take down the Blodgers in the running teams. Nobla is the better but risky defence against more Blodge, this also goes for "zarra"... but "zarra" means sacrificing Deeproot or the Mastercheff... kind of a hard bargain for a girl that sometimes just doesnt help annything... And Stab still being kind of problematic at times.

The last bit that can seriously go wrong... is the weather table. Goblins care a bit less about verry sunny (since their gobo trowing is a bit less used... while it's one of the better fling weapons). Of course the bomber gets a bit more sucky but flings tend to throw a lot more... then the verry verry worst thing that can happen for both teams is a "blizard"... but 6 vs 5 movement is still a huge diffrence. Flings tend to "go for it" a lot more...

So I don't really see why a good goblin coach would automatically be in disadvantage of a halfling team?

Hats off to the Stunty players!!

If any of you run up against my Dwarves, I'll buy you a drink so you don't feel like you just wasted two hours of your life ;)

(That's not a comment on my skill, just the reality of what happens when Block and Tackle meet low armor and Stunty ...)

Don't discount Kuei-Jin, who will want to defend his "Most Cas" title from the NAF Championship in Nottingham!

Great post.

There's a Stunty Cup winner at NAFWC, right?

@kwek: just kidding, since I was smelling your desperate attempt to rate your beloved flings worse than gobbos ... which they are not.

Both are terrible and need everything to work in their favour to score a win. Your arguments cannot be simply discarded. (You forgot to mention pouring rain deadly for both teams similarly and the mastercheff working in flings favour). Yet, all this chaotic carnage goblins can create can very well work against them (and that happens every other match). There is a million ways to lose with gobbos.

@rolo: Kuei-Jin has proven his adamant will to nothing else than piling on for two dayws straight. Will he be able to do it for the days? YES!

It was not that desperate :(
Lol and btw... this conversation is not about them both being terrible :D everyone can make that point over here :D
Just saying that Gobos on paper... and on the board are better then flings. because of all the things I tried to point out in the above.

You have a point about wet weather... but that seriously depends on the team you are facing. If it's a bashy team with agility 3 or less... then rainy weather can work in your favour. But if the guys have at least 1 sure hands guy (which is pretty common) then the weather is not nescesarily better for you (cause flings hardly ever take sure hands... since it's a double). If we are talking "elves" ... then I believe the elves are still in favour... throwing and hand offs will be done less in a game... but they still pick up the ball on a 3+ which is not that bad (and for most coaches considered "normal").

The Mastercheff is a great help... but it doesnt take away the fact that we are running slower, having less armour, and less potential to taking blodgers down... and our best attribute (just as with goblins) tend to be the throw teammate which (just as with goblins) works heavily against us too (since we have to land on 4+... a 4+ roll non of the secret weapons have to make... unless you are throwing your bomb really really really far). But the cheff can be devestating or doing just nothing (but it gives you the opporunity to trow a tripple 1 in one trow... not skulls, but real 1s ... like I did this weeeknd, huray!!! 8) 8) 8) )

I really don't see anny reason to see gobos as the less worst race... this toppic is about the "best of the crap" annyway. The best of the crap... for me... are still the ogres, then gobos and then the flings.

+1 to that.

@Kwek:
The difference in strength between the Goblin and Halfling teams lie with the ruleset of the tournament. In my opinion, Goblins thrive on the option on giving doubles to players (Block on both my Trolls? Yes, please...), whereas Halflings work (in my experience, facing you too many times) frustratingly well with an abudance of Side Step. As in; many, many skills.
Goblins aren't particularly worse then Halflings, or the other way around, but the skill choices for a tournament can make a world of difference in terms of who is more likely to get further in the ranking. Guess we'll see on the 8th who is right in that regard. ;)

It's ooooooooooooooooooon! Buddy!

Btw, Goblins also work really well with sidestep... Goblins just tend to pick other skills first.

I played Goblins only once in the Dutch open... ended up with 1/2/2 record (and the win didn't count for the NAF cause the guy was not ranked at the time). Back then it was also a ruleset where the secret weapons where not automatically included. And I took Gobos above Flings since you get no skills or inducements annyway.... still squeezed out 2 draws and a win. Maybe if I get the flings up high enough that I'll grab myself some goblins and prove you and that german guy wrong :P :P :P
