If you think drunk Goblins are a nuisance you should see them on mushrooms. It turns the little Goblin into a twisting and totally uncontrollable Fanatic who’s spinning ball and chain can strip the bark of a Treeman. Imagine an army of that and you might wonder why the world isn’t ruled by a bunch of little blighters who can’t hold still. Well, the reason is, that this mushroom brew is pure poison with the potential of sending an Ogre to the toilet for a week and to push a Goblin to the brink of collapsing (yet, both keep trying). That’s why it’s widely believed that only „Goblin volunteers“ take it on themselves to assist their team. (A Goblin volunteer is a Goblin who can’t keep his team mates from ganging up on him, gets the fungusbeer forced down his throat and is pushed onto the pitch before the effect starts to kick in). On the pitch, a Fanatic is the sheer power of an iron ball speeding up to about 40 miles per hour by the distorted twitching of his muscles and uncontrollable staggering once he’s in motion. When in a mood like that, the Goblin goes wherever the iron ball takes him to, and then it doesn’t matter anymore where or what he’s running into. Most Fanatics can’t endure it for long, but some, yes, very few of them, survive the torture and become legendary. This phenomenon is quite fascinating and caused entirely new problems. Like what to do with them between matches, as they won’t stop drinking that beer, game or not. The best solution would be to keep them locked up, of course, but once they’ve made it into Fanatic heaven, just like Fungus, they are simply too rich and popular to get treated like that. Therefore we all have to live with the situation that the Goblin eagerly pushing a twice his size trolley with squeaky wheels through the supermarket, might turn into a devastating tornado every second.
