“Go forth and multiply!” Only few dare to plant themselves in front of an Orc team and say it directly into their faces, punctuated by a gesture that signals a twisted victory. But that a Halfling did it, is unheard of. But then again, Puggy Baconbreath is no ordinary Halfling, Puggy is a legend.
Puggy won the big Mootland munching feast, he’s the only player of the Blubay Crammers who survived the massacre at the Mootland day of national mourning, the only Halfling who holds the award “Most violent tackle by a player least expected”, and a player you can always place your money on in the popular “survivor bet”. There hasn’t been a Halfling of Puggy’s calibre yet. His ability to always come out on top, even to lead Halfling teams to a win or two, made him almost cocky over the years and he really dares to show some cheek. Does anyone remember that brilliant late night show with Morg and Puggy? When Puggy cut Morg’s rambling saying in a dry tone, “Get a point, Morg.” This caused the Ogre to look down with a surprised gaze. A tense silence followed and the first journalists were already getting up, running a possible obituary for Puggy through their minds, when, all of a sudden, Morg smiled brightly and patted the little Halfling’s head. Puggy got out of it with a light concussion and one week in hospital. Morg with only three days, as Puggy managed to break one of Morg’s fingers before they dragged the kicking Halfling away. Say what you want, but that little guy has a fighting spirit!
Of course, no fan really cares about rooting for Halflings, but seeing Puggy turning a desperate situation (and when is the situation not desperate for Halflings) into a seemingly impossible charge, a mad rush and a score, to tell those overrated favourites to go forth and multiply, can’t help but feeling impressed. Puggy Baconbreath fighting his way out and beating the odds has something appealing to sport fans everywhere. Sometimes it seems necessary that those overpaid stars get kicked by a little Halfling, and Puggy does that every possession. No doubt, Puggy is a living monument of shame for many so called superstars. In this meaning: “Go forth and multiply!”
