The one thing that lifts a player to stardom is his athletic ability. But it’s presumptuous to believe every Blood Bowl player is an athlete. Only very few reach the heights of dexterity as Jordell Freshbreeze or Roxanna Darknail have. Most players in fact are only average, some are worse and some are so bad that they put wicked thoughts upon your mind. Seeing those blokes blundering over the pitch, wearing this keen expression on their faces, you can tell that they are desperately trying, but will drop the ball anyway. For such players there are only two options on the pitch: to go down, or to play it rough. And Setekh plays it rough every second he’s out there.
When the Khemri priests came upon Setekh’s skeleton they weren’t actually sure if he could be a Blood Bowl player. His massive bulk, strong bones and thickset stature rather suggested that he had pulled heavy square stones during his lifetime. But seeing prospect in this, rather in strength than athleticism, they gave it a try anyway. It turned out to be just too true. He was slow-moving, rather stiff and the ball would never become his friend (rather the nuisance that kept jamming in his chest). Knowing about Setekh’s rookie problems it is surprising that nowadays Setekh’s game is based on nothing but the ball. Setekh had to learn the same lessons as every other rather limited player and that is to play it rough, dirty and unforgiving. If they keep walking around you – hit ‘em hard. If you can’t outrun them – run ‘em into the ground. If you can’t dodge past them – rush through them. And if you can’t hold ‘em – knock so hard into them that it sends the ball flying, preferably with their hand still attached to it. Setekh became such a monster of acceleration and power that his presence alone scares the ball-carriers to death. Because one thing they say about Setekh is by all means true: A player or the ball might get past him – but never both!

Hmmm. How about something along the lines of Setekh originally being the most injury prone player of his generation, human tight end Darnon 'Sick Note' Anderson, the nicest and unluckiest man ever to play Bloodbowl? As time progressed and Darnon moved from treatment table to treatment table, escalating injuries forever impacting on his delicate frame, Darnon was patched up with the best technology available to his team at the time; a replacement hip at 18, another at 19, 456 pins in his spine over the course of his early twenties, a skull plate following a bad challenge at 24, until a grusome clash with a deathroller ended his life only one year later.

They tried to rebuild him (they had the technology), but the combined knowledge of medical science failed to foil the gods and he was declared dead at the tender age of 25; a tragic victim of the game he loved. And true enough, it was not medical science that saw Darnon return to action the following season but the priests of the reigning Khemri Champions, [insert team name here]. The metallic, well oiled form of Darnon Anderson (now affectionally known by 'Setekh', the Khemri term for a sicknote) stormed the scoring and casualty charts for the year, and his power and mechanical indefatiguability continue to earn him legendary status amongst Khemri fans and neutrals alike.

Does that do it for anyone?

Works for me, perhaps:

..stormed the scoring and casualty charts (both for and against!), and his power, mechanical indefatiguability and proneness to hilarious on-pitch injuries continue to earn him legendary status amongst Khemri fans and neutrals alike...
