J Earlice(Ghoul)

Jeral Ice started his Blood Bowl career playing for the Delta Devils, a team in the Outer Realms League, in 2496. In his second season of play he managed to set a new record for receptions and touchdowns for the league. In Jeral’s third season he amassed receptions and touchdowns that broke even the big leagues records and caught the attention of the owner of the Reikland Reavers. The Reavers snatched up Jeral for their next season of play and to the amazement of Altdorf fans he broke his previous season records and led the Reavers to a Blood Bowl Championship.

Jeral’s success was not only making him a fan favorite in Altdorf but also making him enemies in many of the other teams that vied for the coveted Blood Bowl trophy. In a 2500 season away game against the Champions of Death one of the most sinister plots in Blood Bowl was carried out. The Champions of Death paid off the Reavers apothecary and when they managed to injure Jeral in the game, the apothecary “could not save him”. Jeral’s unconscious body was smuggled out of the stadium where the Champions of Death’s Necromancer then locked him in their cities rather extensive burial catacombs.

The Champions of Death kept Jeral in the catacombs for nearly a year, forcing him to live on the flesh of rotting corpses and rodents and driving him mad. When the Champions of Death made it to the Blood Bowl final in 2501 their plot was complete. Releasing Jeral from his imprisonment, they changed his name to J Earlice so no one would know his true identity, and unveiled their new star Ghoul who proceeded to lead them to a Blood Bowl championship.

After several years of play with the CoD, J began to remember his former life. Furious with what CoD had done to him, he left the team and now lives out his Blood Bowl existence as a “gun for hire”. Still known for his blazing speed, dexterous hands and amazing diving catches J is a welcome addition to any undead roster, that can afford him of course.

Earlice Mausoleum Builders and Licensed Mortuary Services was once the top name in the construction of tombs, crypts and sarcophagi. The morbid proprietor of the business kept no close acquaintances and so was known simply by his uncommon surname. When this tombsmith begat a son, the boy naturally came to be known as Junior Earlice. The Earlice clan had a suitably dark family secret: their fortunes were supplemented by robbing the very tombs that they had designed and marketed as “graverobber proof.” Junior proved to be a natural at this nocturnal vocation, as his oversized hands could clutch several bags of pilfered jewels at once, and his gangly legs could outrun the swiftest of groundskeepers. Soon the younger Earlice had assumed all responsibility for this “side business,” and was even breaking into crypts constructed by rival firms. His father, glad of the extra income from these ever more frequent ventures, did his best to ignore the fact that his son was returning home with frenzied eyes, a swollen belly, and breath reeking of embalming fluids.

Inevitably, J. Earlice picked the wrong tomb to raid. As the ghoulish youth was about to bite into a pale and withered forearm, the desiccated limb jerked and withdrew from his grasp. Soon every coffin in the expansive mausoleum was creaking open, with zombies and wraiths staggering forth to confront young Earlice. The graverobber had the misfortune of having broken into the teamhouse of the Nor’folk Ne’er-Did-Wells, and was now surrounded by that team of undead Blood Bowlers. Recognizing the natural athletic ability of the youthful ghoul, the necromancer/head coach of the team offered the boy a choice: join the squad while alive, or join it after being killed in a most gruesome manner. Earlice took the former option, and quickly found a place in the starting lineup. The ghouls already on the squad were relegated to throwing balls downfield so that the speedier Earlice could run them in for touchdowns.

There was only one problem. Not content with his contractual pay, Earlice was making frequent meals out of his teammates. With the zombies and mummies constantly out of commission due to missing limbs, there was no one to punch holes in the opposing lines for Earlice to run through, and the team remained mediocre. The Ne’er-Did-Wells eventually had no choice but to cut J. Earlice before he devoured the entire franchise, but he still roams the Old World playing for any team that can offer him a cold meal.

Hi everyone, this is my background for J. Earlice. It heavily borrows from the history of it`s living example Jerry Rice to do it`s model justice. I have also created a miniature, which can be viewed here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=37842.

Starplayer J Earlice:

The Talabheim 49ers have a long and glorious tradition and were found in the days before the breakdown of the former NAF. In fact they got there teamname after their first match, where they lost 49 players, in the days before the 16-player regulation. Since the invention of the new rule, they had to act. The logical outcome was the establishment of a successful program, which produced legendary players, even of other races. The elf Joe Montanion or his brother Steve the Younger are just some examples.

But talented throwers aren`t everything. You need someone to catch that pigleather and this is where gifted rookie J. Earlice came in. The son of a mason went to the try-outs and was signed immediately. It was a great deal for the 49ers, since J. holds numerous unbroken league records and won some of the most meaningful tournaments in the Auld World.

But as the years past, the team-managements trust did as well. Especially due to J.`s tremendeous income! But J. didn`t hesistate to make a radical decision. He signed up with the Orcland Raiders to prove that even with growing days he`s still got the juice left in him. The Orcland Raiders of course, meanwhile a wild bunch of the most different characters and races, gave him his contract with pleasure.

In those days many of the Raiders teamplayers had the habit of literally eat the beaten opponent alive. After a victory against a team of undead some of J.`s teammates talked him into joining this "Afterparty" and he didn`t hold back. The unpleasant sideeffect was his ghoulification, but J. didn`t really seem to care. In fact it left a gap in his contract, which allowed him to take some jobs aside to earn an extra buck playing for other teams and drawing additional fans into the stadium.

Ever since J. Earlice played for a lot of teams (of course only if they were sponsored by Orcidas) and continues to expand his long list of records.
