Orc team - Which stat increase to take?

Post by Olaf the Stout »

I'm taking Orcs to a tournament where I can take 1 stat increase (and up to 2 improvements per player).

Ignoring the cost, what is the best single player you could make for the tournament?

I'm thinking of going +ST and Dodge on an Orc Blitzer. The other option I'm currently considering is +AG and Dodge on an Orc Blitzer.

In either case I'm getting a Blodging ball handler. The +ST option makes it hard for my opponent to get a 2d block against the ball carrier and also makes for a good mobile roadblock on defence. The +AG option means I basically have a slightly slower, but better armoured elven Blitzer on my team, which will make picking up and moving the ball a lot easier.

I can't see any better options beyond that, but I could be failing to see something obvious.

A Blodging Side-Step Blitzer would be a pain to deal with and a Wrackle or Frenzy Mighty Blow Blitzer would also be good. However, from my perspective, the +ST/AG, combined with Dodge trumps any other 2 skill combo available.

Many people will think I'm nuts but I loved my AG4 Accurate Orc Thrower.

Are the stat ups expensive in your tournament rules?

Keep in mind that you'll be facing things like ST4 Wardancers and similar nonsense. AG4 is sweet but I think you need the Strength.

1.2m to spend on players and skills. Standard cost for skill ups (I.e. 50k for +ST, 40k for +AG, 30k for +MV/AV).

That's all well and good, but when you're catching with AG3 (and no Catch) it's probably asking for trouble. Generally I pass with Orcs only when I have to, rather than as a usual tactic.

I would pick the +ST/Dodge Blitzer of the options listed.
Useful on both offense and defense.

Good luck facing +MV/Sprint Guttter Runners.

I can deal with +MV/Sprint Gutter Runners. Best option against them is to kick first half so you have 16 turns to squish them before they get a chance to try a 1 turn score.
