Halfling team for 110 res. tournament?

Post by Angeblich »

Any suggestions for a halfling team in a
110 resurrection swiss system tournament
with lrb5+ex rules (halfling chef buyable at 50k for halfling teams)
(Bembel Bowl, Germany)?

I'm no expert but was thinking about giving Halflings a try due to the boost in the Rules Review.

What about the following?

10 Halflings, 2 Trees, Deeproot, 2 Re-Rolls and a Master Chef

Then for Re-Roll denial and a chance at +2 fame you could have 6 FF, 4 Cheerleaders and 4 Coaches.

I think that adds up to 110

I don't know if you would need more 'Flings or even Puggy in there somewhere.

I would be interested in what the more experienced 'Fling coaches have to say.

Puggy is a good add as well if you find room for him.

But 2 trees and Deeproot + Master Chef are a must.

take off the 6ff 4cl 4ac add a fling and thats a tr100 team.

for 110 i'd go 11 flings chef deepfruit 2 trees puggy 2 rr think thats 110 nowadays (have to check puggies price)

edit
just checked puggies prce i'd go 12 flings deeproot 2 trees puggy 1 rr and chef

or 10 flings puggy deepfruit chef 2 trees and 2 rr most likely this roster

Having thought about it, Cheerleaders and Coaches will only affect 2 Kick Off results. Therefore, if you are allowed, it may be more sensible to take Puggy

I prefer Rodders' second option with 2 Re-Rolls.

What is the skill structure?

2 normal, 1 double before the first, 3 singel before the 4th game (6 games).

thinking on hmp and 2 diving catchers for starters. gives me a nice extra option in my league so far.

well guess its the full 14 flings +2 trees, hotpot, 5 rerolls, 4 coachs, 5 cheerleaders.
that should give your a RR for pretty much every turn of the game with the hotpot (as long as it works well), with coachs and cheerleaders tying up excess rerolls.
not much else you can actually spend you money on with a fling team and no SPs.

well thought of that but its on a 2d6 roll and would have to give up some coaches/cheer leaders that effect d3 rolls.
guess you could go 5 FF and 2 each of coach/cheerleader which should give you fame for pitch invasions etc.

honestly, with no stars allowed, I wouldn't take 'flings to the tourney. sad but true. deeproot or puggy or zarah are a must imho. If you still want to have fun with an underdog team, take ogres.

With TR110 and no star players I suspect you'll have an immensely tough time. With that said...

2 Trees - 240k
14 Halflings - 420k
Chef - 50k
4RR - 240k
8FF - 80k
2 Cheerleaders -20k
2 Assistant Coaches - 20k
Apothecary - 50k

More than two coaches or cheerleaders seems daft when you're very clearly going to be getting some sort of FAME bonus too. The apothecary really isnt great but perhaps you will be able to afford some extra fouls... or possibly save a tree. You really dont need more than 4RR plus chef plus kickoff re-rolls, you dont really even need that many but theres so little to buy you might as well.

I was thinking about taking 'flings to Waterbowl.

The roster would be the one discussed above:

2 Trees, 10 'flings, Deeproot, Puggy, Chef and 2 Re-Rolls.

Skills are allocated before game one and the team is the same throughout the Tourney. The rules are one Skill per player and no extra skills for the Star Players. I would take the 2xDouble and 4 Normal Skill option.

I was thinking of taking Block on each tree and 4 Diving Tackle 'flings. Another possibility is taking Block on one Tree and Multiple Block on the other. I'd then have three Diving Tackle 'flings and possibly a Sure Hands 'fling.

Do any 'fling coaches with greater experience have any more creative skill selections?

Fun options could be a wrestle fling and a hail mary one.
