Slanns in TV 120 tournament

Post by pyttroll »

I'm planning to take part in a TV120 tournament and was thinking of going with Slanns because I just got the minis from Rolljordan.

Here are the rules of the tourney:
. Skills, Inducements and Star Players may be purchased
. One (1) player of the team must be designated as the Captain of the team. This player must be given at least two (2) skills (one of which must be the LEADER skill).
. Players may only receive two (2) skills maximum; the Leader excepted.

Does anybody have suggestions on how to build a team?

Thanks.

So here is my take on this, I decided to leave the Krog out of the equation:

1 x Catcher - Pass, Kick
1 x Catcher - Block, Strip Ball, Leader
1 x Catcher - Dodge
1 x Catcher
8 x Line Slann - Wrestle
2 x Rerolls

Are doubles and +Stats available for purchase?

Two rerolls isn't enough. Also, Strip Ball has good synergy with Wrestle but not with Block. How about this:
RR x 4 = 200
Catcher (Dodge) x 2 = 200
Catcher (Pass Block) = 100
Catcher = 80
Lino Captain (Leader, Kick) = 110
Lino (Wrestle) x 2 = 160
Lino (Block, Guard) = 110
Lino x 4 = 240

Total = 1200

Lots of options with 1.2M though. How about a true star captain, Blitzer (Leader, Block, Guard)? Expensive but extremely useful..
Also, I'd love a Strip Ball/Wrestle player in there, but I can't see how. I'd also love a few more Guards.. I guess you could drop one reroll...

Ok, assuming doubles an +stats are allowed...

Team Captain Kroxigor (block, leader) - 200k
Linefrog (+AG, wrestle) - 120k
Linefrog (+AG, surehands) - 120k
Linefrog (+AG, guard) - 130k
Linefrog (wrestle, strip ball) - 100k
7 Linefrogs - 420k
2 Re-rolls - 100k
1 FF - 10k

Thats just a very rough idea of what I would do. Obviously it could do with some refining. I think its important that you stack wrestle and strip ball on at least one player. I would also be tempted to build some kind of super-frog captain with +St, +AG, wrestle, tackle, but that wouldnt be as interesting or versatile as constructing a proper team.

No MA 7 guys? What about changing Linefrog (+AG, Guard) to Blitzer (Guard)? Same price, better MA and skills..

Also consider downgrading the krox to a Blitzer on the same skills, allowing 30k more elsewhere.

The team captain will get a new skill after each round, so he's gonna be loaded big time.
