Nurgle at the Carrot Crunch

Post by Warboss Richard »

Hi guys,

Im thinking of taking my nurgle team (AFC Neiglen) to the carrot crunch for a laugh, and as its a 1.1mil tourney, it gives me a few options.

The lineup im thinking of is:

1 Beast 140k

2 Warriors 220k
2 Block 100k

2 Pestigors 160k

6 Rotters 240k

3 RR 210k

1 FF
1 AC
1 CL

Starting with block on the warriors will be a great help and hopefully save some of my rerolls for just picking up the ball

just looked at the rules pack

you are wasting 100k taking block twice and only have 11 players *facepalm*

1 beast
2 warriros
3 pestigors (2 aint enough imo)
6 rotters
3 rerolls

totals 1050k leaving 50k spare
now you could give someone a skill (wrestle on a pestigor would be most useful imo)
could buy another rotter giving yourself 13 players +1FF (or a coach or a cheerleader)
1 FF 2 coaches 2 cheerleaders (should win any rerolls on kick off table) or go 3FF to try and get more fame

skill wise you can go block on a warriror before game 2 (or wrestle pestigor if you didn't buy a skill which is probably what I would do)

before game 3 could block up the beast though I think I would be tempted by 2 random skills (block/wrestle rotters, block warriors, stripball/tackle a pestigor)

before game 4 pick the skills on your positionals who haven't got them yet

think I would take the 13 man squad though the random skills will be more likely to land on rotters but hey ho

Someone on FUMBBL has started a similar thread which has quite a few suggestions on it. Could be useful for you :)

I definately wouldnt overload on pestigors because they are pretty expensive for what you're getting... I'd go for a mass of warriors and a beast.

Its not a loss which is going to happen often (av8 + regen) and its hardly a devastating loss. Remember that the 40k linemen are still pretty ok at ballhandling.

the move 6 helps as well

horses for courses at the end of the day

you also suggest 2 rerolls which imo is asking for trouble

The following may sound counter-intuitive, but I guess that's because it is.

When I started playing Nurgle in tournaments, I thought that the Pestigors were the key players. But what I have found the hard way, is that it is the Warriors and the Beast with their Disturbing Presence that wins games. Their better survivability (AV9 + F-App) does no harm, either.

So when given the choice between 2 Warriors + 3 Pestigors versus 3 Warriors + 2 Pestigors, I will now favour the latter.

Hope this helps.

'Dook - Nurgle are a very expensive team (their positional players average 100,000 each). I have yet to take a Nurgle roster to a tournament with more than 2 Re-rolls. It's something you just have to live with as a Nurgle coach.

Sometimes tournaments allow a doubles skill to be taken on day 1. In this case Leader is a good choice. But if it is at TV100, you have to take one Re-roll plus Leader to get a viable side.

Nurgle are very sensitive to starting any drive with less than 11 players, and lose players to the dugout with monotonous regularity (AV8 + no Block). So I try to get a 13 player roster for tourneys.

Hope this helps.
