Flamebowl High Elves

Post by Zoglug »

As the rulepack is now up, im going to take HE to the Flamebowl, so thought i would get some advice on the team/skills im contemplating!

List 1:

2 x Blitzers – 200k (1 x Dodge, 1 x Tackle)
4 x Catchers – 360k (2 x Wrestle, 1 x Nerves of Steel)
1 x Thrower – 90k (Leader)
5 x Linemen – 350k
2 x Re-rolls – 100k

List 2:

2 x Blitzer - 200k (1 x Dodge, 1 x Tackle)
3 x Catcher - 270k (2 x Wrestle, 1 x Dodge)
6 x Linemen - 420k (1 x Kick)
4 x Re-rolls - 200k

I think im favouring the first list, but just thought i would get peoples opinions.

Cheers

Zog

Nerves of Steel is 4 points as it is a double. So your first list has 22 ponts. But for 1 point you could get Diving Catch which gives you +1 to catch accurate passes, which is like a mini-NoS.

12 players seems like overkill in the first roster. 4 rerolls seems overkill in the second. The best roster is probably a happy medium.

Manj - are you therefore suggesting swap the 4th reroll to an ipod (apo)? 11 + ipod + 3 RRs?

I (fwiw) would take 11 men (2B, 4C, 1T, 5L), 2 RR, Apo, Blodger, Tackler, Dodge Catcher, Wrestle Catcher, Leader (+1 Skill, Pass Block? Shadowing?) or play dangerous and drop the Apo for a RR and take out Leader in favour of a second Wrestle and a +MA.

More seriously....

2 Dragon Warriors (dodge, frenzy) - 200k (4+4)
3 Lion Warriors (wrestle, wrestle, dodge) - 270k (3+3+4)
6 Linewarriors (diving tackle) - 420k (2)

3 Re-rolls - 150k
Apothecary - 50k
1 Fan Factor - 10k

Seems like a good baseline. The lion warriors are really good but its only worth having them if you can give them a skill to get good use out of their movement. Plenty of re-rolls seem valuable for the same reason, you wont have alot of dodge on the team. An apothecary is important as an effective 12th player plus its probably a little bit better because you can use it to bring back key positionals. I dont think I'd go with a leader thrower because you are paying five skill points to save about 30-40k.

Sadly it doesnt look like Eldril Sidewinder is a viable option.

I like 11+apo, certainly over 12

2 dodge, 2 wrestle is an obvious baseline.

Jump up blitzers could be value at 2 each.

Tackle at 3 is nice.
