Lizaard skill selection

Post by bouncergriim »

1100 team
120 pts of skills any combo of following: (No skill stacking.)
20= regular
30= double/+av/+ma

I am going with:
6 Sauri
5 Skinks
1 Krox
3 RR

Two questions:
what skills would you take?

Is is worthwhile to swap a skink for an apoth, or should I just stick with the skink?

I'd take 4 block and two break tackle suarii. I'd also opt for 12 men over an apo.

That is what I was thinking, but I didn't want to bias anyone else.

The only other thought I had was maybe a skink with side step for a sideline cage...
so
2 BT sauri
3 Block sauri
1 SS skink?

best success in tournament is a boring block on all Saurus and sure hands (or AG4 if you can) on a skink.

If you are allowed SP consider Hemlock since he will give you a blodger/sidesteper coupled with a jump/up Stab (2+ no chance of failure) ability against Av7 blodgers. Loner is irrelevant for him until you start touching the ball.

I just checked and star players are allowed!

How would you make a team with him on it?

This is my typical Hemlock Roster I had to adapt to your 1100 (I normally have 1200)

1 Krox
6 Saurus
3 Skinks
1 Hemlock
-----
2 RR
10k spare for FF.

Skill wise you are forced to take Sure hands for a skink due to the 2 RR, leaving you 90k worth of skills:
3 block on 3 Saurus= 60k
1 block on Krox (to use the 30k left) = 30k

You end up with:
5 block (3 Saurus, 1 krox, 1 hemlock), tonns of ST
1 weapon against low AV blodgers (Hemlock), and a prehensile tail.
1 ball carrier (if he gets taken down and you run out of RR just use Hemlock he's hard to take down)

if you face Amazons, wood elf or skavens blitz every turn with Hemlock. He can do a lot of damage and he's awesome at surprisingly stay on his feet (avoid tacklers). Leave him in base contact with SS so you can start the next turn with stab again. Avoid any MB player !
If you face dwarfs or AV9 , just use him as a wall screen/cage pillar, and only stab when you've got your back against the wall.

If you use this roster, make sure to check if it's legal as the Star Player Allowed touenies I've been to required you to first have a legal roster of 11 before adding starplayers/mercs.

Block on all Saurus.
12 players (no apo).
I wouldn't take a star player.

Block, Block, Block and more Block. There is no-one on the team that doesn't need Block. If you are in a Dodge heavy event then you may consider Tackle. Oh, and more Block.

okay so I decided on my roster, tourney on Saturday:
6 sauri w/ block
5 skinks
1 hemlock
2 RR
1 FF
1 AC
1 CL

I would rather have hemlock with just loner than a krox with bone head. Kinda boring but I think it will be competitive.

what about the path of destruction with
1 krox
6 saurus
4 skinks
1 Helmut
2 rerolls

with the skills you may or keep the full blocking sauruses
or 3 saurus block, kroxigor block, and 1 saurus leader for the 3rd reroll
sure helmut will not be always there, but neither do a skink and he will probably bring more havoc than a ST2 player.

I likey. Hemlock with blodge/side-step is a great ball handler against elves (expect for strip ball wardancers; there is nothing you can do against them).

You could drop a RR for the APO and take:

Block Krox
Leader Saurus
3 Block Saurus

came out 2-1-1

Beat Lizards and Norse
Tied Chaos Dwarves
Lost to W.Elves

The dwarves beat me down until I only had 3 lizards on the pitch for the last drive, but I held them off by getting the ball then throwing it far away from them.

The elves beat me at my own game (they play it better). I was trying for fast TDs, I should have played more conservatively.

Also this was my first tourney and they had a strange star player/inducement system, has anyone else been to a tourney like this: You could induce things but not buy them for your roster, so I didn't get Hemlock in one game because my opponent didn't spend their entire alotted amount? So basically my team was worth 1,030,000 and if my opponent was worth 1,200,000 I could induce hemlock, otherwise I was without him. If I play in a tourney like this again, I will go with the sure Krox, rather than the might be there hemlock.

Actually I am going to post this in another thread too to see what other tourneys do.

Same tournie new year... Yeah 2nd annual here in Texas.

Still debating do I go Krox or Hemlock... Opinions?

*rules clarified must have 11 rostered nonstars before you can hire a star and stars are now a part of your roster barring the opponent selecting same star.
