TV 1100 Halflings

Post by JaM »

Hi all,

I'll play tournament next weekend, the Dutch Open.
I will take Flings, and they can have a chef for 100K.
5 games, 1 skill AFTER each game, no doubles.
TV 1100

Roster:

2 treemen
14 Flings
4 RRs
6 FF
2 AC
2 CL
1 Apo
1000K
1 Chef makes 1100K

Skills...??? No idea really. Sprint sounds good, so does sidestep and/or diving catc, or diving tackle.
Treeman...? Break tackle seems good, makes the moveable I guess.

I have no idea really. Can someone with a bit of Halfling Experience give me some advise?

Helps!

Sorry, but I don't understand why:
6 FF
2 AC
2 CL
it seems to me just 100 TV bloat.
I usually get Guard first on my Treemen.
A Halfling picks Sure Feet, Sprint, Catch for the 1TTD.
The rest is unskilled or with Side Step/Diving Tackle.

1 skill per player (no stacking), and the FF is there because I can, AND to prevent my opponent for getting a reroll back, or help me win with whatever the kickoff table throws at me.

4 rerolls + 1 from the chef, + 1 from the KO table should/could do it. As long as my opponent plays with less rerolls than he's used to, I'm fine. If he doesnt want to take a risk, or cant, I can play a bit of Fling Football.

I go grab for my trees.

Means that when they root they don't become useless.

Hmmm,... both with grab? Why not. I can give it to one after the first game and see how it goes.

Sprint for the flings? Or sidestep?

I find it boring to have twin trees.

I would have tried with BT on one to make him a surprise blitzer.
Grab on the other.

As for the flings...... Sure feet. and one catch(maybe even one sneaky git?)

DT is good against elfs but even they will get tempted on blocking you instead.
And Sprint will eat up all your rrs.

Sure feet will help your positioning.
Side Step is good if you can bundle it with DT in the future.

So If a fling can only take one skill, make it Sure Feet.

Not a good format for halflings, they really need their stars or even a few inducements like mercenaries, bribes etc.

Would foul like a mad thing with the team and hope I get lucky. At least it would make the games shorter.

Shame you've no stars, Deeproot etc make them much more interesting.

I'd be tempted to drop 50k from the fans into a Babe, +1 to recover all those KO'd flings will be handy, and with +2 to the Cheering/Coaches results and +1 to gate you'll be unlucky to give many up.

Skills... break tackle and guard on the trees (or maybe just break tackle on them both).

Skill for flings... either defensive so diving tackle or sidestep, fouling - sneaky git, or scoring catch/sprint

Maybe mix them up or just go all on one.

Why bother with the Apo? It will only be useful for a Tree, since you have enough flings, and they won't get hurt anytime soon. That 50k could be spent on 3FF, 1 Ac & 1 CL, to ensure you win all kickoff events.

Skills:

Tree: Grab
Tree: Break Tackle
Fling: Sure Feet
Fling: Side Step
Fling: Catch

Or just go Sneaky Git on all your flings and foul like a Basterd! :P

I made a mistake, it seems...

Cant have the apo AND the 6 FF. Somehow my sheet messed up.

Therefore I am skipping a reroll. I should be allright with 3, hopefully the chef and the insane amount of ff and staff will give me a few more (and deny those to my opponent).
Losing a tree during the match would be a serious blow, playing flings with 1 tree is asking for trouble I guess.

I will see how it goes and if I need it (the apo), perhaps at some later tournament I can skip it...?

Took 3 RR, 7 FF, 2 AC/2 CL, apo and a chef.
2 trees and 14 flings of course.

Apo saved a tree at least once, later in some games I used it to rescue a gobbo (well, why not...).
the chef did sometimes well (even stealing 3 rerolls one time) but against the 2 games vs Orcs I had he did bugger all...
Should find me an Orc-cookbook.

Or, maybe not ;). Things would have been better if there were mosre skills and more TV to choose from, but hey, I couldnt.
I am sure I would have faced more tackle then anyway.
Had a good time nevertheless, but I am sure I wont take them to an 1100 TV tournament again. Unless you can get more skills, but more skills and perhaps a starpayer would have give me a fighting chance.
But I had a good time, had decent opponents and learned some new tricks with flings.
