ogre vs AG4
Next tournament I go to I was thinking of taking ogres.
My question is how do you defend against AG4. They seem to just walk through snotlings and if you get a couple of boneheads in one turn you seem to be left wide open.

Spend the skills on diving tackle, though this is more of a league tactic. Generally, hope not to face them!

The lunchmoney way:
Piling on on all the ogres, then just flatten your opponent's team.

I'd probably limit myself to only 1 or 2 break tacklers; based on a friend's experience of 5 break tackle saurus, I'm doubtful of it's effectiveness en masse.

Some pilling on, some breack tackle.
Pick up the ball with the ogre and let them come to you. Outnumber then and score!!!!

Does pile on not leave big gaps in your defense?
I've not used the skill before.

Re: ogre vs AG4
Elves are usually a nightmare opponent for Ogres as they can just run rings round your players and Bonehead kicking in plus titchy mean there will be huge gaps in your defence. Their mobility means it is much harder to tie up opposing players or protect your snots and even sissy elves will be getting 3D’s most of the time and not have much difficulty hurting them.
A lot of players do forget about snotling tackle zones not giving the extra -1 to dodge, but then so can the Ogre coach and it can be a nasty surprise.
Your best chance is to set up as many 3D’s as possible to try and hurt them but even half an elf team is still a threat to you. Only 3 elven players start with dodge so they should be prime foul targets, mind you wardancers are for everyone.
There are tournaments that give extra cash or skills to the really poor teams so you can take advantage of this by maxing out on skills such as Piling on or Break tackle, Guard will be less use vs elves but is great against other bash teams. Snotlings don’t benefit much from skills, diving tackle is an option but means you have to put him next to opposing players so works well if teemed up with an ogre, in this situation guard will be good. A snot can be turned into a TTM specialist with catch, sprint and/or sure feet.
If you are allowed doubles then block is always good on ogres but consider sure hands or tackle if you are really worried by elves. Dirty Player may be worth it on a snot to try to help keep the attrition rate up.

Re: ogre vs AG4
PO leaves gaps but it gives you the benefit to use when you already have broken armour.
You don't have to use it, but if you broke armour and still got MB, you can eliminate an opponent's players with being on the ground for one turn.
A good deal to get them players gone.

Re: ogre vs AG4
Played two games with my ogres, pre tournament games.
5 x ogre (All with break tackle)
8 x snotling
4 x re rolls
1 x FF
vs dwarf team which used the same skill set of 5 normal skills i think they have mostly guard.
The score was 1-1. The ogres hardly boneheaded and were able to move away from dwarves marking them to help in defense.
vs wood elves team, had 4 catchers with some block and a frenzy, strip ball wardancer.
the score was 4-0 to them, a hard game which i struggled to get a grip of, the elves seemed to be able to take the ball what ever i did. to be fair the break tackle didn't help against this team as they just ran away when i marked them.

Re: ogre vs AG4
I suggest 13 players is not enough for Ogres, given the propensity of Snots to fly into the dugout. I would be inclined to drop a RR for an Apoth and a Snot. The Apoth is very good for keeping Ogres in the game.fire olli wrote:Played two games with my ogres, pre tournament games.

There is little defense against a S-Ball Wardancer. All you can do is (a) make it hard for the WEs to recover the ball, once spilt, and (b) extract a high fee in the form of knockdowns and fouls.
Hope that helps.
